Will UT, OU, and Iowa be on the same rotation?

With the 2011 schedule set to be released soon and a likely 9 game conference schedule, I was wondering if anybody knows anything or has any predictions about how the home and away schedule will line up? If the current schedule is continued, Iowa State will always be home or always away to all three of Texas and Oklahoma as well as our toughest non-conference game Iowa. This really seems less than ideal. It's almost worse when all 3 are at home since it leaves ISU with fewer home games that they have a better chance of winning.

If it's staying the way it currently is and just slotting in A&M, Okie St, and Baylor, I'll definitely be hoping that at least Baylor ends up being our other home game next year.

Someone said that if Texas and Oklahoma have their way (and when haven't they) they will only schedule northern trips early in the season. That means some pretty tough games in a row (throwing in Iowa) for the good guys staring out of the gates.

Exactly, I'd say us, Kstate, KU and Mizzou will be the first 4 conference games for those teams each year. Or at the least they'll get us in no later than Oct. Toss Utah and UCONN in there next season and wow....just wow. CPR and Co. have their work cut out for them.

Re: Will UT, OU, and Iowa be on the same rotation?

ISU will probably have to sacrifice a home game next year with UT and OU in order to fix the schedule.

    2011
    vs. Iowa
    vs. Texas
    at. Oklahoma

That will probably be the only way ISU gets off the ridiculous schedule the Big 12 gave us.

You would think for the love of god they would split Texas and OU so we get one at home each year and one on the road. But then again...

Re: Will UT, OU, and Iowa be on the same rotation?

Utah should be dropped and UConn bought off.

    2011 Home
    Iowa
    Texas
    Oklahoma
    Texas A&M
    Kansas State

    2011 Away
    Oklahoma State
    Baylor
    Texas Tech
    Mizzou
    Kansas

Those would be the expected trips next year. I doubt this will work out well for ISU. Just get used to playing Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Texas A&M on the road every other year.

In the past, their argument has always been that they play their division opponents at the end of the season. Now that they don't have divisions it'll be interesting whether they still get this treatment. With the reduced number of north teams, some Texas school will have to come here in November. If it is constantly baylor and tech then I'm sure they will ne complaining.

i think they plan to release the schedule next week. all the teams are 'voting' on them now (i.e Texas is telling everyone what is going to happen).

Re: Will UT, OU, and Iowa be on the same rotation?

It has been said in a few different articles that the Big XII will allow ISU to have 5 home conference games on the years that they play Iowa in Iowa City. It was also said that they are hoping the Big 10 will do the same for Iowa. Doesn't mean that ISU still won't play UT/OU/Iowa all on the road in the same year but it would still help.

Re: Will UT, OU, and Iowa be on the same rotation?

I think what gets lost is not the fact that we will now have to play Texas and Oklahoma every year but we will have one extra conference game each year. That is one less game we can schedule where we have a really good chance of winning and that will really hurt our bowl chances each year.

However, I still believe we can do it. Go Cyclones!!!

Yeah, but that also means that years where we have only 4 conference home games + Iowa at home, 2 of those home conference games will be UT and OU. Talk about a tough schedule for trying to finish very high in the conference.

What are you talking about? It also means we get to play Baylor every year. IMO that offsets...

We lose colorado, nebraska, and a nonconference game that if scheduled right (should schedule a cupcake) should be a win.
Heres how the schedule change works, depending on which years of our current rotation we're in.

Colorado-->Texas (in 'easy rotation') or TAMU (in 'hard rotation')- much more difficult
Nebraska-->Oklahoma or Okie State - definite increase
Noncon game-->Texas Tech or Baylor- massive increase in difficulty in the years its not someone like Utah. Even Baylor is much less likely of a win than someone like eastern illinois or western kentucky.

Across the board we're replacing 3 games with 3 tougher games.

    I know something!

I know that if we have to play UT and OU both on the road this season (not to mention back-to-back), we had BETTER get them both at home in '11!
