This statement from our coach sums up the problems.

We havenít been blessed with great field position. So even though we can be productive with several seven and eight yard catches over the course of a long field, it is hard to continue that and be successful.

The other teams dont have to punt, ever. We always have to have 16 play drives to score. No to often you can keep that up and be succesfull. Id say our offense has been okay, because they do eat up clock and do have lots of 7-15 play drives, they just dont always add up to points.

With this defense befing as soft as it is upfront, we are in trouble for the rest of the year.

Yeah so what's he going to do about it? And where did you get this quote, because its full of gramatical errors and mis-spellings.

Bonehead penalties don't help those drives either.

We lack the ability to hit a home run. That's going to make scoring a tough proposition.

If we cut out the penalties, that would help a lot. At least we'd require less big plays.

i agree but asking them to go 8-15 plays a drive with no penalties is a lot when its every drive. the defense is really bad, and a previous reply he isnt going to do anything about it except try to recruit more bodies, and the qoute is from his presser...

There's nothing wrong with Iowa State that better blocking, tackling, running, throwing and catching won't fix. The coach could just say that every Monday and his press conference would only have to be 30 seconds long. That covers it all. End of story.

I agree. It's almost an impossible task.
The defense is growing into their role. They'll get better as they get experience (which doesn't help right now).

I was saying that eliminating the penalties helps in that it doesn't create an extra 10 yards for a struggling offense to move the ball, and at least theoretically gives us more options as to what kind of plays we can run.

But somewhere, we need a home run threat to keep things honest and get an easy score once in a while.

Our best receivers or catchers of fastballs are ARob, Franklin, and Money. They seem to be able to handle errant, off radar throws. I would lock onto those three and hope that I could do 16 play drives since we are always in the hole.

If someone has a false start, he sits for a play or two. If a receiver touches a defender and gets called for a penalty sit here for a play. Time for timeouts for people making penalities.

I would drive our punter to the games with a limo because he is outdoing himself. Reward productivity.
