NU and their fans were very impressive today

NU looked very good on the field today against a pretty decent Washington team, but the most impressive thing to me was the huge number of Husker fans in the stands at Washington. There are always a lot of Husker fans in Ames, but that is a 3.5 hour drive.

My aunt just flew back to Seattle on Wednesday and said her both her flights back were full of Nebby fans and the city was full of Red. Probably 12k at the game anyway.

I shudder when I think of what Nebraska's run attack will do to us. I shudder and convluse when I think about what Nebraska's defense will do to us.

Bo Pelini will have that team well aware of the fact that we went into Lincoln and beat them last year...probably won't be pretty

Washington had questions about being undersized and inexperienced coming into this season upfront and Nebraska destroyed them. 3 100 yd rushers, fist time since '97 when they played at Washington then.

After watching our awful run defense and tackling the last two weeks, I shudder to think what Martinez/Helu/Burkhead will do to our defense

Estimates are that there were between 25,000 and 30,000 Husker fans in Seattle for the game.

Washington's weakness against the Huskers was starting a 1st Rnd NFL QB draft pick.

That's why we were able to beat Nebraska with a skinny unknown QB starting his first game.

I totally believe that number. It looked like a home game on TV. It sounded like a home game for Nebraska with the crowd noise too.

I never know whether to be impressed by that kind of fanaticism or feel pity for it. I do know that living in Chicago, surrounded by alums of every Big Ten school, they have absolutely no idea what is coming in terms of the traveling fan base.

This is one of the best Nebraska teams i've seen in a long time. They are flat out athletic and have more depth than they've had in 10 years or better.

We do have tons more depth than we've had in some time. Bo redshirted a ton of kids his first two years and it has helped tremendously. And the players on the field are fast and are very athletic. The weaknesses we have right now are:

    1) Linebacker. We have some athletes there, but are inexperienced. I'm still of the opinion right now that if an opposing RB can bust through the defensive line there will be plenty of yards to be had. Backs like Robinson, Hunter, and Thomas will be big tests.

    2) Passing game is still unproven IMO. The running game has been so effective we haven't had to totally rely on throwing the ball yet. When that day comes it'll be interesting to see how we react.

    3) Discipline. There are still way too many penalties and turnovers for this team to be truly dominant.

I was very impressed today. Maybe a bit biased, as I grew up in NE, but I could really see them running the table this year. Texas at home will be the key, but Texas has looked pretty vulnerable this season.

I predict Nebby wins out in the regular season, only to lose to Oklahoma in their last year in the Big XII.
