Best NFL WR (in terms of fantasy production)

Okay, for some reason I can read threads as a guest but cannot login to this site at work. So I will pose a poll now and read responses tomorrow. Fox Sports has Marvin Harrison as the best fantasy WR at this point. Yahoo has Steve Smith as number one. I was curious what the CF people thought.

Agreed. I've had him the last 3 years and he's never dissapointed even with injuries and QB injuries

A late round guy that always works for me is TJ Houshmazude... I mean TJ Houshmadilla... TJ Whosyourmomma....Put him on the board, Houshmanzilly... Other than that look for Matt Jones to break out and Chad Johnson has always been good for me, especially with Carson Palmer 100% from the get go this year...

Marvin Harrison thus far has had the better career, but if we're talkin' this year, how can you not go with Smith?

Re: Best NFL WR (in terms of fantasy production)

Holt is the way to go if you're looking for a safe WR1 pick, with Harrison close behind.

I'd put Johnson 3rd on just because of Palmer being back from injury for a total year and the way he CJ came on strong in the second half of last season.

Smith is a wild card, last year killed a lot of teams while he sat out indefinately with the hamstring and quad injuries. If you draft Smith as your WR1 you want to be sure to get a WR2 that is rock solid as far as injuries go. Smith will put up great numbers - as long as he's on the field.

For the 50/50 chance that he'll either OD or get suspended by coach or commish or call his QB a little girl - I'd have to put TO last. Great numbers, but he will tear down a fantasy team just as quickly as a real one.

    Holt, Harrison, CJ, Smith, TO

Of course I never draft a WR that high, so I won't have any of 'em.

I'm a big time Rams fan, so you know who I voted for. But look for Drew Bennett and Randy McMichael to steal some of his touchdowns this year.

I had Marvin Harrison last year, and he produced pretty solid numbers consistently. I traded him to my brother in law, along with a scrub, for Drew Brees right before Brees exploded

Re: Best NFL WR (in terms of fantasy production)

I hate TO but watch him and Romo explode this year. Dallas Offense is going to be good all the way around, with Witten, Jones/Barber, Crayton and Glenn, as well.
I think Harrison shares too much with Wayne in Indy nowadays. Harrison puts up the big numbers over a season because he'll have some huge games, but he had too many 50-75 yd games last year as well.
I think I'd put it CJ, Smith, TO, Holt, Harrison this year. But I also don't think you can go wrong with any of them. My mind will change, by the way, as i do my multiple mock drafts in the next 8 weeks.

Isn't the #1 rule of fantasy football: You have to be able to pronounce your players name?

Dallas seems to put great offenses together on paper yet falls short or is rather inconsistent. There are still some question marks on the offensive line and Owens/Glenn aren't exactly young pups. Holes or injuries in those areas will easily impact TO's numbers. I don't think he'll be #1 as far as stats go.

I picked Chad Johnson, yet I'm not sure it will be any of the guys on that list.

M Colston from the Saints carried me all year last year as a rookie. He was unstoppable! I look for him to be a good one for a while. The best was that I could start him at WR or TE :)

Who else would it be? Boldin or Fitz maybe, but they tend to water each other down a little bit being on the same team. Maybe Roy Williams but that's about it for big time WR1s.

R Moss is no longer in the conversation, S Moss is a poormans Smith - but a top WR2 not a 1. Branch maybe since he's the clear number one in Seattle??? That's a stretch though...
