Three HUGE missed calls in the game ...

Three HUGE missed calls in the game may have cost us.

    1. Fade pass to Money from Tiller. Tries to make one handed catch in end zone as DB holds his left arm ... could have been PI and first and goal ISU at the one.

    2. Long pass play on next drive. Reeves in good position and receiver obviously pushes off to create space and make 47 yard reception ... should have been OPI and they would have been way behind the chains on game-winning TD drive.

    3. On the following kickoff return. They call holding on Lenz. He squares up the KState player inside his frame. The KState player grabs Lenz as he is getting pancaked. They call holding and we start our (second to) last hope drive at the 8 yard line ... horrible call!

Yes, I know our run defense was bad, yadda yadda yadda

Re: Three HUGE missed calls in the game ...

As bad as our defense was, a lot of the blame goes on our offense also. penalties in the red zone are KILLERS. Twice we were in the red zone only to have penalties called and we ended up settling for FG instead of what very well could've been TD's.

Either way you spin it, this was just a bad game on both sides of the ball.

#2 was the killer. Absolutely awful no call, and gave KSU a huge play, yardage-wise.

Re: Three HUGE missed calls in the game ...

Again, I'm not excusing any of our mistakes ... there were many

But those were 3 really bad calls that really hurt us at a critical time in the game

#1, I don't think it was an undue amount of contact, after watching the replay I fine with the no call
#2 yeah this was the killer
#3 Missed it while flipping over to the Twins game.

Re: Three HUGE missed calls in the game ...

I realize that we had other opportunities but if they call the pass interference, I think we win the game. In other words, if they call the game like it happened, I think we win.

Agree that the calls killed us. But still, our offense was terrible. Defense not too great either. But they played hard. Have to give the Wildcats credit.

all 3 of these did kill us. you might be right that there wasnt much contact, but you can't hold down a recievers arm. the db had money's left arm held down. THATS WHY HE TRIED A 1 HANDED CATCH. DPI!!!!!!!!!!

    yada yada yada...

I can name just as many that were called correctly on ISU that cost us the game ..... Hicks, IMO, needs a bench rest.

Re: Three HUGE missed calls in the game ...

The blown offensive pass interference was a 60 yard gift to KSU. Easily the biggest blown call of the game.

ISU didn't get any blown call in their direction even remotely comparable. Yes we the 7 points on the interception but that was KSU's bad play and our good play, not a 70 yard gift from a ref. TIGHT coverage, then all of a sudden 4 yards of space right before the ball gets there with the ISU defender flying in the other direction.

I get so annoyed by people who say it's all on the players or on the coaches and officials mean nothing. That is completely irrational. You can be good enough to overcome bad calls, but let's not live in a fantasy land where KSU got no huge break from getting 60 yards they didn't earn.

The game would have probably went down to the wire without the 60 yard blown call, but I fail to see how people can just ignore a call like that and say "we should have played better".

Can you name the 60 yard field position swing that KSU got on a blown call?

That's what people are arguing, all things considered, the rest of the game could have been called well or even called in ISU's favor and that one call cost us as much or more than all of our other mistakes. 50 yard gain into the ISU red zone vs. 2nd and 20 with 70 yards in front of KSU? That's a huge swing on such an easy call to make. If it was ticky tack I wouldn't be upset at the no call, it was really blatant and pretty much the only reason he made the catch.

Easily the worst officiated game I've seen all year. They called a holding on Lenz earlier in the game and he didn't even touch the guy.

(I watched multiple times on DVR)

I know. Of course we could have played better, but if they call the game like it happened, the way we played WAS good enough to win.
