UI vs ISU Wrestling #84 of 101

Jim Capale from ESPN Page 2 had Iowa vs ISU wrestling as #84 on his list of 101 things every sports fan must experience before they die.

Some pretty good (and interesting) company on this list.

    33. The All-Africa Amputee Football Tournament (Sierra Leone). The first tournament featured African war victims, six one-legged players and a single one-armed goalkeeper to a side. If you need any more information than that to pique your interest, you might as well hand in your human race membership card.
Am I allowed to laugh? Please? I want to see this.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Neither am I. I would go see a Duke-UNC game though.

I went to a Florida State at Miami game a few years ago. That was....interesting. It was great. Both teams were in the Top 5 at the time.
It was big time football. Talk about hatred.

    19. Duke-North Carolina basketball game (winter, Chapel Hill or Durham, N.C.). There are college basketball rivalries and then there is Duke-Carolina, which makes that Yankees/Red Sox thing seem like a simple misunderstanding. Cramming into old Cameron Indoor Stadium or marveling at the banners for all the Tar Heels greats in the Dean Dome is a college basketball experience not to be missed -- even if you have to camp out in K-Ville for a couple of weeks to get a ticket. (Just check with a doctor first to make sure you have all your shots.)
I haven't been to a Duke/UNC game, but I can vouch for the experience of seeing a Duke game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. It's probably the only college basketball experience that comes close to (an quite possibly tops) seeing a game at Hilton when it's really hopping. Regardless of what you think of Duke, their student section is one of the rowdiest and most knowledgeable in all of sports. My favorite Cameron tradition: the Duke students chant "Go to hell, Carolina, go to hell!" before tip-off, no matter who the opponent is.

Re: UI vs ISU Wrestling #84 of 101

A buddy and I had this grand plan that we were going to go to one big game a year. We started off in KC for the FSU-ISU game. OK, maybe not huge by national standards but still. We went to the FSU-Miami game at the Orange Bowl. Just a word of advice. The Orange Bowl is a piece of crap.
We've been to the Red River Shootout. Awesome.

Then................we got married and that was the end of that. We're hoping to start up again next year.

Our Wrestling match was out ranked by arm wrestling and wife carrying. I wouldn't be too proud here.

    73. Field of Dreams Ghost Sundays (select days in summer, Dyersville, Iowa). If they hold it, you should come, because the only thing missing from these games at the "Field of Dreams" site is Kevin Costner's hair. (Although, that's true of anywhere, right?)

Quite possibly one of the greatest items on the list...and not only because I'm from Dyersville. If you haven't been to one of these, you seriously need to make the trip. It's an amazingly entertaining event that gets all involved. Very, very, very worthwhile drive.

This is true, but of the "real" sports listed here, it's pretty cool to get mentioned. Of all of the things mentioned, only a handful of schools were on the list....UNC v Duke BB, Ohio State v Michingan FB, Alabama v Auburn FB....and ISU v Iowa Wrestling......pretty nice.

I've only done #23 (game at ND), #28 (play at Rucker), #63 (camp out for tickets and #90 (watch LL games). Hoping to get to Indy and Daytona soon.
