    Deace featured in Cityview

    I found this interesting...

    Big Talker
Some people believe Steve Deace is full of hot air; he says he’s just doing his job

    By Matt Miller

Talk Radio is undeniably one of the most popular radio formats in America today. Years ago, when the public stopped listening to the radio and started engaging it, the dynamics changed, and the medium hasn’t been the same since. Today, talk radio is available anywhere, anytime, and with leading talk show personalities like Rush Limbaugh, Larry King, Howard Stern, Don Imus and former talk show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger, it’s easy to see and hear why this type of entertainment has our ears waning for more.

Just like the aforementioned hosts, Steve Deace, host of “Deace in the Afternoon” has audiences listening, too. The Christian and conservative talk show host and sports fan has a widespread following that tunes in to 1040-WHO Radio while covering a bevy of topics during your drive-time commute.

But are his evangelical ways overpowering the radio?

Interesting. Didn't know he hooked up with his wife in a chat room. What a bad ***.

I enjoy Deace but he can be quite judgemental towards people (I'll refrain from Born-again stereotypes) and that turns me off quite a bit.

I haven't met many (if any) people who aren't judgmental about other people, they're just not as outspoken about it as Deace is.

But for the record I agree with you. It gets hard to listen to him sometimes when he rails on someone for the way they live their life. Sometimes I agree with him, sometimes I don't, but its always hard to listen to. He doesn't pull any punches.

    Re: Deace featured in Cityview

That's very interesting. On his show he always makes references to his past, saying how he wasn't always the way he is now. This really brings that to a new light.

I can actually understand more why he's so extremely judgmental on his show now. He feels that he used to be one of the people who were in the wrong and he changed from that, so he probably feels that those other people need to undergo the same transformation. It's one of those things like "I did it, so you should too."

Deace: GeronimusClone, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

Hmm... perhap's that's why he gave up his gig as a talk radio host.

He rips on people which in my opinion is the polar opposite of Christianity. Maybe it's just me.

    He's great for sports.

I don't appreciate Christians like Deace who try to tell me how I should handle my relationship with God.

I think it was an awesome article. Standing up for what you believe in can be tough especially if its not what the majority of people around you believe.

    Re: Deace featured in Cityview

    Very interesting and informative article.

I gained some respect for Deace after reading that for finding direction in his life after what reads like a tough childhood and early adulthood, but the outright bullying of McCoy is just a stark reminder to me of why I've never liked the Christian right and their holier-than-thou mindset.

I agree with Cydkar, I think on sports he's great. I remember calling into his show back in 2004 before I was moving down to the Florida Keys to tell him that I had enjoyed listening to his show and that it was going to be one of those small things that I would miss about Iowa. I ended up being the "call of the day" or something like that and got a free oil change or something similar, not that I could really use it considering I was leaving for Florida just a day or two later.

I used to think that way, but I guess I've changed a bit on that. If a person is truly 100% passionate about what they believe and they whole heartedly believe with love that a person is in sin, and they want the utmost best gift for a person (salvation), they will put themself out there and take a chance to offer that. The problem is that most people like this are either judging or self ritcheou. And to me, that taints it for most people as another "bible beater" which is the last thing this country needs.
