    2011 recruiting.....

Is anyone else a little worried about the lack of offers by our current commits. Although I trust our coach and staff in talent evaluation and are happy with the recruits that decided to be Cyclones, it sure is comforting to know that some of these commits would be players other BCS schools wanted.

Out of 12 commits, only the following commits had other BCS offers:

    WR-Ted Lampkin
    S-Jarred Brackens
    WR-Tad Ecby

Anyone concerned? Or is everyone OK with these commits.

Until this changes, expect more *** kickings by Iowa and others that play physical football.

Maybe other programs saw us lose a game and figured if we offered somebody...they must not be any good!

It used to be people followed recruiting by seeing how many silly stars a recruit had next to their name.....ah, the information age.

I am really worried about this as well. I find it hard to believe that this staff has gotten that many "diamonds in the rough" or whatever you want to call it with this years recruiting class. Chizik and his staff couldn't execute a game plan to save their life but they did bring in some talent---you can't deny that for a second. Also, I don't like that we are bringing in so many second tier Iowa players. I would venture a guess that this will be the weakest recruiting class ISU has had in a long time

I meant it as, since they have committed, most coaches will bypass recruiting them. Nothing against them as players.

    Re: 2011 recruiting.....

We live in Iowa. Ames is a small community. We have very little tradition compared to most schools. Our stadium is one of the worst in a BCS conference. We rarely play on national television. Every time you hear a recruit talk about Iowa State they say, "I don't know anything about them, I'll have to do some research to find out more."

Some of you need to step back and realize that most recruits know less about Iowa State, than you know about Southern Miss or San Diego State.

    Re: 2011 recruiting.....

I don't judge a player by how many offers he has (or hasn't). That should be the very least of the considerations in whether a player has talent.

To me, it is the talent and athleticism that is relevant, rather than how many offers a player has. By afr. The film I have seen, I like.

Plus, it is still only September. I suspect that by January, we will be fighting to hold onto some of these kids by the skin of our teeth.

I could also show you quite a number of 4 star players that have zero offers.

Oh, and by the way, you are mistaken about which players have BCS offers. Only looking as far as David Irving, I see that he has offers from Colorado State and Nevada, which are not FCS schools.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

I would not get too worried about offers listed on a rivals or scout website.

Lots of early commits dont get that many offers either.

    Exactly

I find it funny that people were just amazed at how dominated we were. Just look at the way we recruit.

I'm sorry but our current recruiting class is pathetic, and likely acg mentioned, will just lead to more ***** kickings by schools that recruit BCS level talent.

You're right, its a good thing that almost all of our commits have zero BCS offers, thats definitely a positive.

And of course, no kids that commit in June,July or August have any other offers, duh...that happens everywhere

Biggest bunch of BS I've heard around here in a while.

Amazed at Iowa's domination....didNOT surprise me one bit when cpr used the Jim Crymore Criner / Winless Jim Walden playbook...

Unless recruiting some how gets a lot better cpr is going Zero for Iowa in the instate series.....

    Re: 2011 recruiting.....

I'm not as concerned about the # of stars behind their name as I am about their lack of size. Compare our roster to Nebraska's as you'll see that they have almost twice as many guys > 250 lbs as we do. On top of that, their 2011 recruiting class is loaded with size and speed.

I can't understand why guys would rather sit on the bench for 3 or 4 years at Nebraska than come to ISU and compete right away. It's not like you can't make it in the NFL if you go to ISU. Our DL recruiting is particularly troubling and hard to understand. ISU has had a good record of putting DL in the NFL (Reed, Hayward, Carstens, Rubin, etc.). We just need to find a way to get them to commit.
