What POSITIVE PEP TALK WOULD YOU GIVE THE TEAM

Gentlemen, Lou Holtz said last night, VA. TECH lost twice to Boise State, last week and again this week disguised as James Madison. So filled with self pity they let a lower level team beat them. Do not be beaten twice by Iowa, get off the pity pot and get focused on beating K-State.

Some of you must ask yourself " Am I a "PRETENDER"?
Am I trying to excel as a BIG 12 FOOTBALL PLAYER.
If your not trying each day in practice to excel at your position to be nominated as BIG 12 PLAYER of the week, or become FIRST TEAM ALL BIG 12 at you position , the you are a pretender. You must develop a picture in your mind as to what a FIRST TEAM ALL BIG 12 player would play like , practice like, and then become that player.

Your body will ACHIEVE what your mind can CONCEIVE if you work and commit your will to BELIEVE it. Go out this week, remake yourself and inspire your team mates to EXCEL and become the vision of glory they want to be, then go beat K-STATE.

    Go Cyclones.

12 months ago an ISU team lost to Iowa by a larger margin than yesterday's game, then went on to beat Neb and win a bowl game. This team has that ability. From this point forward, (you all) need to sharpen your focus and find the will to succeed.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Seriously, all this doom and gloom ******** is getting old. If I wanted to hear my fellow fans constantly complain about how the world hates us and we aren't good enough, I would be a cubs fan. But I'm not. That being said, this team has now experienced winning and losing. They are at a point where they have to decide what they like more. Do they want the sacrifice that leads to winning or do they want to do nothing and lose? In my experience, once you have won and then lost, you do anything you can to keep from ever losing again.

BSU and VT was a game, ISU and Iowa was not. They will not allow this game to beat them twice.

I like this metaphor, 'don't let this game beat you twice'. The team MUST let this pass by and not effect their focus this week as they get ready for a tough KSU team. They will be in for a fight against another confident team in KSU. ISU can stiffen up and play with swagger and nastiness, they just have to buy into what the coaches are saying and find their will. Also, the seniors on this team need to understand this is the last go around, they need to make magic and step outside themselves and do whatever it takes to win. This season can turn into unprecedented success and it starts next week in Arrowhead.

"I think that people are responding to someone standing up and saying this is what we want to do and let's not be afraid to go for it,'' Pollard said. "I think Iowa State has a very conservative, modest background. We never pound our chest and say `Let's do it.' It's OK to set a goal. You can't do it if you don't say what you want to do. You should be proud of it.''

I don't think a pep talk is even necessary right now. There are ten games left, TEN. If we are even close to mailing in the season or getting down in the dumps, we have more problems than a pep talk can solve.

Thank you. If you think this team is even thinking about the Iowa game, then you're nuts. They started thinking about Kstate the moment they got on the bus home.

Some people just need to relax. You're never as good as you think, nor as bad as you think.
