    K-State 2011 and beyond

As I recall, the agreement to play at Arrowhead ends this year. Can anyone confirm that or know of any discussions to extend the agreement?

I hope they can extend it. It's pretty cool. It's a game I can go to pretty much every year so it's like another home game.

    Re: K-State 2011 and beyond

I thought it was reported somewhere that the Chiefs weren't interesting in continuing it because ticket sales were lower than expected. It would be nice if we could keep it going, but if I am remembering correctly then it is probably over with after this year.

    Re: K-State 2011 and beyond

I emailed JP last month and he said the game would return to Ames and Manhattan after this year. Even if both schools wanted to continue at Arrowhead, the KC Chiefs were not willing. The ticket sales were just too low for them to turn a significant profit.

Not sure how this will all work out with the 9 game schedule and 4 schools (UT, OU, KU, and MU) having a neutral site game. I guess the 4 home/4 away/ 1 neutral idea wont happen.

JP did seem receptive to the idea of a Farmageddon trophy though.

Well if the chiefs arent interested in having us both back, then the check isnt there, so we wont continue playing there.

I was kinda liking this annual trip too.. damn.

Why would you take all of the money out of Ames, away from the people that actually support the programs? I just don't get it.

Because going down there gets us a nice paycheck, and while we lose a game in jack trice, we also lose an away game in manhattan. And our athletic department needs every dollar it can get.

The real mistake was allowing this game to be switched from later to this week. That switch meant losing a home game during september, the month during which we usually sell the most tickets. For those that couldnt make the thursday game, or tailgate, it means the first 'true' gameday isnt until september 25. Shouldve kept the utah game this week and then played KSU @ Arrowhead in october, when its actually nice to go a little ways south where its slightly warmer.

Talking with some people at arrowhead, an offer for the future isn't completely out. But we gotta crank up the people. 45000 isn't going to cut it when KU/MU is sold out.

I wonder what attendance is looking like for this year so far. For pre-season sales i would guess those would both be up since we both had not much to look forward to after 08, ticket sales had to suck, but after 09, both should have upward movement in sales. Week of the game ticket sales on our end will probably suck after what happened yesterday.
