What do this do to recruiting?

I am just curious what recruits think when they watch Iowa State play and see that even during a blowout, our coaches will not switch there quarterback. I have also noticed that they do not do allot of subbing on defense to give our players a rest.

    Just an observation.

Outside of the state of Iowa no one even watched this game so I don't think it hurt too much ;)

The only thing it might hurt a tiny bit is instate recruiting, but we weren't getting the best instate talent anyway.

We can always offer playing time to the borderline instate talent, which Iowa cannot.

The rest of the season will have more of an impact... however, it can't help.

As if recruiting is thriving right now anyway, thats part of the reason we continue to get pimp slapped by Iowa.

Stop offering kids who nobody wants...

Re: What do this do to recruiting?

Recruits see a top 10 ranked team soundly beat a .500 caliber team, like would be expected. Instate we continue to be at a disadvantage, but other than that its not that big of a deal. Upsetting iowa wouldnt have had a huge affect either. we need to be consistently competitive with iowa and winning some of the games to swing instate. wont happen over night

I dunno, maybe they think the QB is the best option? Who the hell are they supposed to sub on defense? We have maybe 2 players on the defense who are Big 12 caliber players right now (Sims, LJ), and now we want to go subbing for them? You put the players on the field who give you the best chance to win.

You, said we only have maybe 2 players on defense who are Big 12 caliber players, so what does it matter for a few series if we play some reserves to give this guys a chance to catch there breath ? They have players like Preston Kauffman, among others that could play for a few series.

Re: What do this do to recruiting?

Hopefully the coaching staff re-evaluates the next 2 recruiting classes. Not solely because of this game, but because of the opponents ISU will face the rest of this year. ISU continues to recruit skill players which are much needed, but at some point the focus has to be overall athleticism and bulk on the defensive side of the ball. There is much talk about how difficult it is to recruit DL athletes to ISU. If that is the case, ISU better start working the JUCO routes harder because there is no way to be effective without bulk. Ruemmpolhamer was the only DL who put up a fight yesterday and his ability is average at best after 3 years in the weightroom. Coaches can teach leverage, using hands, and quickness but they can't teach height, heart or speed.
