If this is going to be the kind of effort we put forth against teams...

if this is all we can do against one ranked team who we should have the best chance of beating, if this is the best game plan we can put together, if this is it, this is going to be a worthless season to watch and we're headed nowhere as a program. It's completely obvious that we've taken so many steps back today; we went from beating Nebraska, inspiring Cyclone nation and rejuvenating hope in our program, back to the dump of college football with one of the worst performances I've ever seen by any team ever. Iowa completely dominated us in all aspects of the game, and this loss will sting forever.

Quit underrating Iowa. They are a good team. We lost to a team that should have beaten us. It's all about where we go from here that matters.

You act like ISU was the top 10 team that played today. Calm down, Iowa is a very good team.

I'm not underrating Iowa, they're a great team, but we're going nowhere from here. The season is over, and we're doomed to another mediocre season of 5 or 6 wins, or probably less, and another game that no one cares about. No one will ever care about Iowa State football; we will never be on the kind of stage that Iowa is, and I almost want to cry thinking about it

in case you forgot, Nebraska turned the ball over 8 times, and we won 9-7. not exactly great football, but a win is a win, I'll grant you that.

Iowa played a great game. Turned the ball over exactly 0 times. Iowa is strong in all phases, we are not. We are young in bad positions - not good to be inexperienced on the DL and LB v. an offense like Iowa. If you can't stop the run, then you have to sell out, then you have long passing and running plays like you saw today.

get a grip on reality my friend.

your flaw is this. Id probably give that edge to nebraska as far as easiest team in the top 10 that we'll face. Not that they'll be easy, but Nebraska is overrated. Iowa is a legit top 10 team.

If you expected more than 6 wins this season you're high as hell. 6 regular season wins IMO is about as much as you can possibly expect, and any more than that is completely irrational.

We're rebuilding a program. Not reloading one.

Rebuilding to what, exactly? We have never had ANYTHING go our way in football, nor will we if we play games like this and can't come out with a W or even a close game. It's embarrassing, frustrating, and sad all at the same time. Why can't we just be as good as Iowa? Why are they so much better? What makes them so special?

Lets start with they have had 2 coaches in 25 years. Then we go to the fact that KFs staff have been with him for 10 years.

Ummmmmm...no. This deserves an "Epic Fail." Any Cyclone fan who thinks this season is doomed already after the 2nd game of the year, needs to take some steps back themselves insteading of just saying the whole program is tanked from one loss. I think a win over any of the following would change some outlooks: KSU (we're back on track looking to be 3-1 with a home win over UNI), Utah (gonna be a great non-conf measuring stick) Texas, Oklahoma (both stretches, but think how the lockerroom would be after a win down there!), Nebraska (send them packing right.) Rhoads is building this program right and it involves doing more than beating Iowa. Especially when Iowa is ranked #9. We can lose to them every year imo, if it means that Rhoads takes us to bowl games every year as well. I know it doesn't work that way, but bowl games and conf champ games are OUR goal. It's a shame if, as a fan, it isn't yours too.

I can't tell if OP is a troll, or just very very sad after today's loss.

It was a tough loss but going to a bowl is the goal this season, not "beating Iowa."

IMO, nothing really changed as far as the success of the season. The key thing is that we play MUCH better against K-state or we might be SOL really fast.

Go take a look at Ferentz's first two years at Iowa.

That's why your's is an overreaction.

Well they have had far fewer coaching changes for one. KF is a very good coach who makes NFL players out of 3 star recruits. They get better recruits. They have a better history in football. They are better funded and have a stronger following. I think a lot rests on a great head coach and very good coaching staff that have been together for a very long time...there actually is a reason they pay so much to keep him around.

Ferentz did awful in his first two years. We went to a bowl.

We should be in B12 Title contention by now, but we never will be if we can't even keep it a game till the 3rd quarter against Iowa.
