Cyclone FB discussed on Tim Brando's national radio show...

...earlier today on Tim Brando's national radio show (Sporting News Radio) they were discussing college FB. Predictions were made for teams that callers brought up for discussion.

ISU was discussed and Brando (who knows his college FB "stuff") said he thinks ISU will go 6-6 in Chizik's first year.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Well that would exceed my expectations. With the talent we have left and the schedule we're facing that would be a fantastic first year.

It's not all gloom and doom across the preview magazine publications. CFN even has us at 5-7, 3-9 worst case, 8-4 best case.

Wait: Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska are all counted as "likely losses" on our calendar, but are counted as "could go either way" games on the other teams' calendars? I don't understand the mixed messages, but at least they're not just writing us off as a pushover team right off the bat.

Actually, now that I think about it, this setup is pretty accurate- yeah, they're all likely losses, but they sure can go either way. I think we could beat any of those three if the wind was blowing our way, so to speak. (It'd have to be practically gale-force wind, but stranger things have happened- CU tornado of '05, anyone?)

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

I'm sure they have sort of a five-point system for rating these things: Sure loss, likely loss, could go either way, likely win, and a sure win.
