    Re: CU caught undercharging student-athletes

Ouch. That's exactly what they don't need. Still, I'm a little surprised that they only lost one scholarship, and not a few more than that.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

they lose one for the next 3 years, so they lose 3 TOTAL. I guess this helps us a little as long as we stay outta trouble.

Another shady thing is goin on down in Oklahoma, apparently Bob Stopps is involved in some pyramid scheme that involved him getting free music downloads or something, I still don't understand all of it.

On the ESPN bottom line it said CU will lose one football scholarship per year for the next 3 seasons.

Undercharging for training table meals? Pretty sure every school in the country is guilty of this... I know ISU doesn't charge any extra for training table meals although they don't differ much from the dining hall...

Well, the NCAA disagrees that it's not a big deal. I wouldn't drop the shady comment if this were a school without a history of such things.

That's not the case and I'm sure it played a part in the NCAA's ruling. Colorado is developing a nice reputation for not following the rules.

This is a huge over reaction. How is this "major". These guys were "walk ons" and they paid normal dining hall rates to eat training table. BIG DEAL. If this was ISU in this story, how many on this board would be throwing a huge fit about how the NCAA is penalizing us over nothing. I don't disagree the CU has had a shady recent past, but this should have been a slap the hand, and CU should have been fine doing its self-imposed penalties. It isn't like the althetes were given low-cost housing or free cell-phones. Oh wait, those aren't major violations. Only eating at the training table for a reduced rate by a kid paying his own way. Jeez.

Are you kidding me? I worked one year of food service at the Towers in the mid-80's; training table was in the Wallace-Wilson dining hall. The football players ate like kings, with big baskets of jumbo shrimp and the like in their segregated dining room. Come to think of it, I ate like a king too on certain nights when I pulled the right duty!

Back in my day, the walk-ons didn't get to eat training table; they were in the dining hall with the rest of us schmucks...

Well in MY day, 2000-2001, all the athletes from a 'full scholarship' sport were eating over there, some CHOSE not too because the scenery was better elsewhere....

Well at least some poor young female didn't lose her innocence as a result of this violation. They must be growing up out in Boulder.

Again, I firmly believe CU's history had a good deal to do with the punishment.
