We've lost 36 straight road games vs. ranked

Last victory was against Oklahoma in 1990 (33-31). I remember vividly doing field work with my family and uncle at my Grandparents farm, with the truck radio blaring Pete Taylor calling the game. I'm sure it was a site from the road as 7 of us are jumping up and down and cheering like idiots in the middle of a harvested field on a cold October afternoon as Pedersen dove for the winning score in the last minute.

Would have sworn that Iowa was ranked in 2002...
Guess they just got on a ROLL after losing to us to finish with only that one loss.

We're gonna end the streak this Saturday.

According to this, Iowa wasn't ranked at the time of that game in 2002.

I know that's right... I'm just saying that thinking back on that game, I would have bet money that they were ranked at the time... just think they went from unranked to 11-1 and their QB was a heisman finalist. Crazy season.

Also, just going off of memory, I would think that Nebraska was ranked (at least in the 20-25 range) last year when we beat them. But, of course, they lost the previous week while ranked 15 to Texas Tech and dropped out of the top 25.

Damn...that's right. Oh well! I wouldn't trade that win last year for anything!

This is really splitting hairs. What is more reliable a ranking at the end of the season or a ranking based on early season expectations?

End of season rankings are a far more reliable barometer when assessing whether you've beaten a ranked team on the road.

Agreed on reliable indication being at the end of a season, but to the players at game time, if they are playing Iowa or if they are playing #9 Iowa is a big difference. They either get up big to play a ranked team, or get intimidated.

I'm not trying to split hairs about whether a team should have been ranked when we faced them... just reacting to the the stat of 36 straight losses. And I'm reflecting saying that if you put a gun to my head recently and asked me if Iowa was ranked in 2002 or Nebraska last year I would have said yes

Sounds like my prediction for US THIS season! Why not us for once? QB that has high potential in a great system. Great RB, with a strong OL. Strong WRs. Great coaching staff. No expectations.

The boys ended a lot of streaks last year (road win, conference win, Lincoln, etc.)

I see no reason why this streak should not end as well this year, and hopefully it's on Saturday!

Hey, we all know that Lincoln is rank.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

Re: We've lost 36 straight road games vs. ranked

Keep in mind, we have beaten teams during that span that *were* ranked at the *end* of the season. You can make the argument that the year-end ranking means more. With this in mind, we beat a year-end ranked team on the road *last* year in Lincoln. We beat a year-end Top Ten team in Iowa City in 2002 and I am sure there are more examples. We almost beat a ranked KU team on the road last year and we later learned they were bad.

"I'm proud to lead this program and this team in whatever we do. Whether it's a community service project, or through practice or winning a bowl game, but you don't do that without the kids believing and being all in, and going out there and accomplishing all [of] the goals and expectations that we set." - Coach Paul Rhoads
