A-Rob's stats for NIU seemed wrong?

He had 64 yards rushing in the first half, but he had a 63 yard run. I know he wasn't lighting them up, but there was an 11 yard run and a couple 4 to 5 yard runs in there somewhere in the first half. Just seems like something is not right there.

His longest run in the 1st half, other than the 63 yarder, was 3 yards and he had a few for negative yds.

I guess I must be thinking that a couple swing passes where runs.

I'm pretty sure he had at least one run for about 10 yards that was also brought back because of a penalty.

Nothing against ARob, I really like the guy and he can be dangerous.

But stats like these against NIU should open the eyes of some fans who contend to argue that ARob is going to be the 1st, 2nd, or even the third best rusher in the Big 12. I know it was just one game, but it's gonna be hard to beat out Daniel Thomas, Kendall Hunter, DeMarco Murray, etc. for those honors.

8-9 guys in the box at all times will do that. Also two new starters on the OLine can take awhile to be cohesive. Arnaud needs to continue to throw well to keep the defense honest.

He still has a good shot at All-Big 12. Other than the 3 you mentioned, only A-Rob and Helu are in the conversation, IMO. Hunter may not be able to put up monster numbers without the tag team of Robinson and Bryant taking pressure off the running game like they did in 2008.

Hunter looked the best on week 1 to me.

ARob will be fine, no reason to believe he won't be as good as last year. It's one game.

Re: A-Rob's stats for NIU seemed wrong?

If the line can give him some space he can gain good yards. He had some good runs vs NI. He will give you 2 here 2 there than brake one for 10. We know he is a good back. Lets not forget how good he is as a reciever also.

Re: A-Rob's stats for NIU seemed wrong?

UCLA stacked the box against KSU and Thomas still put on a show.

I know ARob will be fine. He's a good back. I just don't think he's the pick of the litter in the Big 12. I would LOVE for him to prove me wrong... starting this week against Iowa!

This is where I think ARob could potentially make up any lost ground from less rushing production compared to others. He's dangerous catching passes out of the backfield.

Supprised that shmuck hasn't jumped this thread to tell us that the 63 yrd run shouldn't even count on his avg. Somebody needs to ban hammer that idiot, right in the junk. We all get it. you don't understand how 8 in the box and run focused D works. Anyway. I think that NIU at worst was avg as far as run D's that we'll see this year. I'm pretty sure, that last year they were solid against the run. On top of the 8-9 in the box.

Re: A-Rob's stats for NIU seemed wrong?

I will say I am really worried about our Oline. I didn't think they were terrible, but let's face it, they have to be great for us to compete. ARob has to be able to get to the second level consistently for us. I love AA, but he can't carry us through every tough game. I think he could beat Iowa by himself but you can't expect him to do it all the time. You can't expect any QB to do that all the time.

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

I watched the game again and on at least two of the big option plays where Arnaud pitched to Robinson, they were slightly forward so they counted as reception yards instead of rush yards
