Neither. The two most popular teams in the country (that are usually undefeated).

Re: Who is supposed to play in the National Championship?

Boise State has shown they are one of the best and one of the deserving teams to have a shot at the national championship. Provided they go undefeated this year, they should have the opportunity to play for the national championship, unless multiple teams like Alabama and Ohio State are also undefeated.

I'm getting sick of hearing the same "does a mid-major deserve a shot at the national championship" discussion EVERY YEAR. If Boise State (or TCU) goes undefeated this year, it's time to put up or shutup. If BSU or TCU gets blown out in the NC, case closed then.

Re: Who is supposed to play in the National Championship?

That is why I ALWAYS hope for undefeated teams...

3 or 4 from Major Conferences, 2 from Mid Majors, and for Notre Dame to win 9

this is the only way we end the BCS

The best this year would be for the 2 (Boise and TCU) who are currently ranked higher than the 3 or 4 from BCS conferences with favorable schedules (Nebraska, Miami, FSU, Oregon, and dare I say Iowa or Auburn) with the real screw the pooch job coming from a 9 win Notre Dame team and their weak schedule. Everyone can point to undefeated Auburn in 2004, but they were on NCAA "probation".

5 undefeated teams + 9 win Notre Dame = end of BCS!

so, what if boise state wins? they are the national champion. Should they be allowed an auto bid from the MWC from now on?

there can be a big difference between whos the best and who deserves it. For instance, in 2008 alabama was ranked #1 most of the year, despite everyone really believing florida or oklahoma were better teams-- but those two weren't undefeated like bama was.

Re: Who is supposed to play in the National Championship?

What its going to take to really make a dent in the BCS is for three of the popular powerful teams to go undefeated and one get screwed over.

Say for instance this year if Alabama and Ohio State run the table and finish 1 and 2...then you have Texas go undefeated and finish 3rd and they get left out. The powers that be in Texas would raise a ****storm and things would really get wild. As long as its just teams like Boise State and TCU complaining they deserve a shot, nothing will get done

Re: Who is supposed to play in the National Championship?

I don't know how anyone could say that if BSU goes undefeated the rest of the way that they deserve a shot, not knowing who else will go undefeated, etc.

I do think BSU is a top 10 team, but we have no way of knowing yet, how good VT is. Beating 1-2 quality opponents isn't enough, IMO. The winner of the SEC, B12, B10 or even ACC will likely have beaten at least 3-4 teams as good as VT.

I do think they are worthy of a BCS game if they win out, but I saw nothing from them last night to make me think they are better than OU, Texas, OSU, Florida, Bama, or even Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, etc.

Putting them in the NC after their opener is really sad and tells a lot about their schedule.

Re: Who is supposed to play in the National Championship?

The only difference between Boise State and BCS teams is that Boise State has to get it's strength of schedule in its non-conference slate. Otherwise, BCS teams have 2-4 quality wins and a slew of lower quality opponents.

    They're figuring this out now.
