wow that is much much higher than i would imagine we'd be ranked, especially since we were picked dead last in the conference about a week ago.

Clearly a misprint - they meant Idaho St.

    Re: ESPN power rankings

Daaaaamn. That was completely unexpected. Honestly I wouldn't have thought they'd have us with any votes. Hell, not even close to votes. This has got to be the first time in a looong time that we got some respect.

    Re: ESPN power rankings

That win over NIU really gained us a lot of respect. It will be awhile before we know if it is deserved but based on what people thought NIU was like we did well for ourselves.

With the exception of a stretch in the 3rd quarter we completely dominated that game.

    Re: ESPN power rankings

Gotta say I'm surprised that we are even on this. Beat a MAC team in week 1, so were still relatively unproven. I guess next week's game is what decides where we go with this poll.

    Re: ESPN power rankings

Gotta love finneb116's comments. He is obviously a Hawk homer, but does give ISU some credit.

Here is one comment: "Iowa's defense would absolutely curb stomp TCU or Boise State...what a joke that they're in the top 5!! And Iowa's offensive line is 100 times better than last season!!!!! Iowa is by far the most underrated top 10 team right now!!!!!"

    Re: ESPN power rankings

Even Ubben was tossing out a little praise:

"Oh, definitely. If Iowa State walks into Iowa City and wins, they might be ranked next week. I don't think they'll do it, and the schedule will still be tough, but they're a shoe-in for a bowl if they win this weekend. That would be proof they're a lot better than anyone thinks they are--and I think they're pretty good. They have a solid claim as the Big 12's third-best team, but their schedule won't allow them to finish there."

Yeah that's undeserved at this point. Our players just need to keep working.
