I think I'm getting jaded toward college football

Other than the ISU game, this BSU/VA Tech game will be the first I've watched in full thus far. I've been completely uninterested. I've tried watching the games, but find myself off doing or watching something else.

I used to say I hated the NFL and loved college football because it's about more than the money in college, but after all of this re-alignment crap, they showed that it's about nothing but the money, so it's ruined my false perception. I don't know, maybe I just need a game like this to get myself interested, but despite how close and good of a game it is, I keep switching back and forth between this and something else.

Has anybody else felt this way? I hate it because I've always loved college football so much.

It was a big dose of reality, one I always knew was there but chose to pretend it didn't. College football definitely lost a lot of it's innocence this last spring.

I am becoming less and less interested. I do not know if it because I have a family to spend my time with now or if I am getting jaded toward the whole system. Only those teams with a name are allowed to play in the big 'bowl' games. There should probably be a playoff, I think I would like college football more again.

Why should fans care about games that don't matter to their own teams? I mean, yeah I watch NFL games too, but if they aren't teams that I'm interested in watching, I'll flip channels. Unless the game is actually good.

So why would I want to watch, say, Houston vs Tulsa? Or Iowa vs Iowa State? Etc, etc.

As for this game, one could argue that both teams are overrated and irrelevant to the final picture. And judging by how many mistakes both teams have made, it may not be a wholly incorrect statement.

What do you define as a good game?

    A top 10 team beating a 1AA school by 60 points?

A close game filled with offense where the final score is 48-45?

A close game filled with defense where the final score is 6-3?

A game where the underdog wins or at least makes it close?

ISU whooping up on a directional college by 50?

I love college football and will watch the big games outside of ISU, but I know there are more important things in life than what a bunch of kids in colorful clothes do on Saturday afternoons.

Same as CycloneGB. If it's on TV I'm going to watch it. I love seeing what other teams have to offer. (More so college than Pro or high school)

Re: I think I'm getting jaded toward college football

Obviously the Iowa State game was great.

    The KSU-UCLA game was good.

NDSU vs. KU was a laugher (didn't watch).

TCU vs. Oregon St. was a great game.

Boise St. vs. VA Tech is a great game so far!

Didn't watch it, but the Oklahoma vs. Utah State game was close too.

Jacksonville St. upsets Ole Miss in 2OT (didn't watch).

Plenty of good games to keep things interesting in week 1!

I guess that's the difference of if you're a fan of just a team or a fan of the game. I've always been a fan of the game. It didn't have to be ISU, it just had to be a good game and I was glued.

Hopefully it's just me getting back used to it, but I really do think, as someone else said, college football really lost that innocence with me over the summer, with all of the greed and betrayal in the re-alignment talks.

And then to make it worse, the town I live in went from a nationally ranked high school football team to sucking now after their quarterback graduated and went to play for Kentucky, so I don't even have good football to watch there.

Re: I think I'm getting jaded toward college football

I guess I've always known its about the money to a certain extent. So I still enjoy the games like I always have.....but I think its clear that the student athletes that are playing had nothing to do with the money issues that came up this past year, so its still pure to me. You know that if a labor issue comes up in the nfl the players are involved, so its not the same to me.

You guys were fooling yourself if you didn't realize CFB was all about money until the conference realignments started.

I'm jaded, more so because the rich keep getting richer in this game. There are only a handful of teams that have a legit chance of EVER winning the NC. Its all about money and they are making sure they know where it goes.

Well of course there are more important things in life, but the question is do you still enjoy the games or not given the changes in the past year.

I don't think anyone didn't really realize it. I, personally, chose to ignore it because it wasn't blatantly out there, but it was just shoved down your throat to the point that you couldn't look away this summer.
