Interesting. I never really thought of the recruiting advantages of playing a game on a Thursday, but it makes complete sense.

Re: Transcript of today's (9-6) CPR press conference

My hope for Saturday is that we tailor the offense so AA does not throw 'risky' passes. CPR mentioned AA threw some nice balls, that should be a point of emphasis. Put AA in a position to succeed. I think if the offense can get some momentum right away and put Iowa behind we have a great chance to win the game. If not, we'll be put in a bad position and force AA to make spectacular plays against a very good defense. I don't want to see that. My hope is that Herman will play call in such a way that 'risk' is not necessary. It is tempting to impose our style on Iowa offensively, but a little strategy in play-calling could pay dividends.

I don't get all the hawk love from CPR. Did Churchill glorify Adolph Hitler during WWII? Do any Cyclone fans really want to see our coach grovelling at the feet of EIU? How do the in-state recruits even give us any consideration? Maybe DMac taught his assistant too well.

Grovelling? He didn't grovel. He's comfortable enough with himself and his team to point out what the opponent does well, instead of playing the petty, small, childish games you'd like him to.

Really, did he say anything that wasn't true?

Its a shame a 3-year starter doesn't have the confidence to attack the middle of the field. Hopefully Collin Franklin can find the seams and open up the UI defense so Herman can open the playbook. Anyone think ISU's wr's vs. UI's db's favors ISU? I see big plays on the perimeter this weekend.

Yes. Iowa leaves alot of holes in their secondary. If Arnaud plays SMART he should tear Iowa's DBs aprart.

I like reading transcripts from other opposing coaches during game week. I don't see where you see the holes at? Of course there are holes in a zone coverage. The problem is getting that ball INTO the zone. That is where Iowa gave AA fits last season with all those picks. He didn't have the accuracy to drop balls into the zone. I still don't think he has that accuracy yet when facing pressure from a D line with a pulse.
