  1. Re: The Board of Regents just stuck their middle finger up to Univ of Iowa faculty

In my experience, managing through consensus and relying on teambuilding to develop a vision as opposed to executing a plan are code words for "sharing of ignorances." Executives that spout this...

Re: ISU XC women ranked #1 nationally

If I recall l correctly, I think the women's, and maybe even the men's, were national champions in cross country back in the 70's (maybe early 80's). Unfortunately the women's team was killed in a...
  3. Re: For those LONG GONE from Iowa... what do you miss?

Thunderstorms are special in Iowa. I had a classmate live through a hurricane in Florida and thought it was nothing...nothing compared to an Iowa thunderstorm.

I also miss the pork tenderloins,...

    Re: Ultimate Iowa Wonders List

Pikes Peak....near McGregor, Iowa; also named for (or by) Zebulon Pike. He came through Iowa before he went to Colorado. It's in a state park near the Effigy Mounds which I found very interesting.

    Re: Ultimate Iowa Wonders List

RAGBRAI and the aftermath of any destructive storm; although these are events, the true nature of Iowans shine brightly.

Re: Losing money on house sale.

Typically my assumption is that the market moves the same on 80% of the houses in a market. The lowest and highest 10% don't react in the same time frame. I'd also assume that when you bought in...

Re: BREAKING: Prohm notches first commitment

I, too, thought it hard to understand but I think they meant that he was inconsistent and didn't always play hard. May have tended to play to the level of the opposition.

Re: Friday OT #1 - Old, Old Shows

Surprised no one has mentioned Hogan's Heroes and it's (kinda) predecessor The Phil Silvers Show (aka Sgt. Bilko). Both had a con man as the leader of a military group.

    I also liked Topper; a...

Re: Number 1 song on the day you were born

They must not have had songs when I was born. That site doesn't go back far enough.

I got lucky with "Happy Together" by the Turtles is shown as number one on the day I got married. We're still...

Re: FIFA Women's World Cup 2015

Disclaimer: This is not my statement; just repeating for seasonal content.

Question: Do you know the best reason to play soccer?

Answer: Then you don't have to watch it.

Re: Golf Balls, do they matter based on skill?

The better you are, the more they matter. Or in other words, if you aren't a good golfer (you are in the average and poor groups) the ball doesn't matter as much. Get a lower compression ball with a...
  12. Re: REPORT: Leath expects search to be complete "fairly soon"

I can't imagine that Leath fancies himself as an astute judge and hirer of coaches. I really don't believe he has much of an idea who should be considered and why. I don't think he wants to have much...

    Re: Post the first picture...

The first is my avatar, the second is from an old signature, the third I have no clue where it came from but I like the fourth: that is me and the two cars I own. I got the 66 Ford in 66 when I...

Re: Let's help Rob Gray sell his house!!!

We'll also need permission slips for those Fanatics who haven't reached maturity. Fortunately legal maturity is based on birthdate rather than mental development.

    Re: Nick Noskowiak

When two people disagree, it is impossible for both to be right but it is quite possible that they are both wrong.

Anybody hear about this Nick guy that is visiting us this weekend?

I am not old. I've merely been young longer than most of you have; a lot longer.
  19. Re: In the spirit of CFH, what surgeries have you had?

Appendectomy and a wisdom tooth (I'll only count the first of four because it involved removing a piece of my jaw bone to get it out. Happened about 1960-61. He drilled a hole in the tooth and tried...

Not to derail this topic but obviously you haven't been to the offices of personal injury, class action, and other various civil suit lawyers. :mask:
