  1. Re: Will this controversy of the future of the B12 ever stop?

The conference isn't unstable, Boren is. There is no way ESPN and Fox will agree to paying the B12 to expand given their ongoing expense issues and cord cutting.

And it's hilarious when UT and OU...

Re: ISU to B1G was discussed in 2011

    Wrong.

ESPN made LHN lucrative enough for Texas to stay in the B12. Texas turned down the P12, not the other way around.

Re: ISU to B1G was discussed in 2011

OU/OSU are far more bound to the hip than KU/KSU. KU's AAU status makes them far more likely to break away from KSU and than non-AAU members OU/OSU (who both prefer SEC membership over B10).

  4. Re: ***Official B12 Expansion/Implosion Thread 3.0???***

The B12 might have been disadvantaged in 2014 without a CCG so Boren is full of crap like everyone else who states that the B12 must add a CCG in response to a unique set of circumstances that...
  5. Re: ***Official B12 Expansion/Implosion Thread 3.0???***

After the CCGs. See Simulated BCS table in this link dated 12/7/14:

  6. Re: ***Official B12 Expansion/Implosion Thread 3.0???***

It should be made clear that if the BCS computer formula was used last season that Ohio St, FSU, Oregon and Alabama would have been selected.

The so-called committee bias for the final 4 teams...
  7. Re: ***Official B12 Expansion/Implosion Thread 3.0???***

The stupidity in this and the rest of other pro-expansion posts is unreal.

The pro-expansionists have no frickin clue that the conferences cannot unilaterally add schools and expect that ESPN and...

    Re: Expansion

    Agree.

And I highly doubt the B10 will stray from AAU schools if they add schools. If they had a do over, Mizzou would be in instead of NU who was AAU when invited.

    Re: Expansion

Agree, there is a reason why Louisville is the only commuter school in a P5 conference and the last addition to the P5 group.

    Re: Expansion

Given the cord cutting explosion and the revenue pressure on ESPN and Fox (see Clay Travis article posted by CW and other recently posted industry articles), the B12 will not expand unless it is full...
  11. Re: How "cord cutting" could be disastrous for sports fans

For the P5 conferences/schools, the far bigger impact is to conference networks and their future ability to thrive off of premium cable subs with limited quality live programming content.

    Any...

This not only impacts greatly impacts ESPN but the SECN, BTN and PACN were built upon the premium CATV/SAT model where the majority of their revenues are derived from subscribers that don't watch...

Re: COLUMN: Thank you, Oklahoma president

    The poster never suggested that.

Louisville is a flippin commuter school. Boren was an idiot to want them instead of WVU or TCU.

    Wrong again.

Nobody has said they won't profit but their current premium sub revenue model is at risk and they will need to adapt somehow. Both conferences expanded solely due to acquisition of...

The poster didn't state that. Geesh!

The poster stated the existing gravy train model of premium CATV/SAT subs for BTN and SECN will significantly change and they will need to adapt accordingly. ...

Re: COLUMN: Thank you, Oklahoma president

I agree it is a very simple concept but it's one that makes zero financial sense at this point in time.
