Re: The Flaw in the Cubs Rebuilding 'Plan'

I said before the year that I expect this team to be over .500. If they make the playoffs as a wild card or do even more than that, it's all gravy this year. If by some miracle they came back and...

Re: Rocky Lombardi, recruit QB Valley High School

That would make more sense. His dad is a good coach, but Burlington ain't exactly Valley and his son has an excellent chance to win at least one state title. If he'd still been playing at Washington...

Re: Rocky Lombardi, recruit QB Valley High School

He competed in a 7-on-7 tournament with Valley just over the weekend. Unless his dad took a coaching job in Burlington, that'd be a crazy dumb move. Valley looks like the heavy favorite to win 4A...

    Re: Golf in DSM area

I've played Sugar Creek in Waukee a couple times and enjoyed it. It's a short 9-hole course, but if you play the blue tees, it can provide some challenges. Very well-maintained, too.

    Re: 2015 U.S. Open thread

I would agree, and that's why I think Spieth will overtake Rory in terms of who's best is better as they get closer to the end of the road. The putting shouldn't go away for Spieth as he ages, where...

Well, at least you're willing to admit that you've completely wasted everyone's time here.

MLB: Re: ***Chicago Cubs 2015 Season***

And when people put other stats in front of you that differentiate Baez and Schwarber, you just keep trying to shout them down with OPS.

MLB: Re: ***Chicago Cubs 2015 Season***

When we're talking about trading one of our best prospects (even hypothetically), if you're NOT considering this, you're doing it wrong. I'd be willing to trade Baez LONG before Schwarber. Baez's...

    Re: 2015 U.S. Open thread

I didn't say Spieth won't get ANY better. But like you said, he chooses consistency over distance, and I doubt he changes that approach. He'll probably get a little longer off the tee as he gets a...

MLB: Re: ***Chicago Cubs 2015 Season***

Reasonably good estimator if it's the only thing you have.

Except it's not the only estimator we have available, and there are other signs that make Schwarber a more likely star. Yet you keep...

MLB: Re: ***Chicago Cubs 2015 Season***

Baez's upside is still sky high, and you'd have to have been living in the Laurentian Abyss to no have known Baez was a top 5 prospect (but thanks for the refresher course). But to pretend that OPS...

Both of those guys also had pretty good BB rates, too. Soler's been off all year this year, but his plate vision was considered one of his best attributes. Up until the start of this year, the...

Bryant had a 1.042 OPS in AA while also being two years older than Baez. Is Baez just as good as Bryant, too?

MLB: Re: ***Chicago Cubs 2015 Season***

Especially at his price tag and age, he's a cornerstone. They can get value for him if there were any takers, but nobody's going to pony up that many elite prospects to get him.

This, too. Regardless of the fact that Schwarber isn't a lock (small sample and what-not), no team in their right mind shops a guy like Sale at this stage of his career when he's got a bargain...

    Re: 2015 U.S. Open thread

Tiger's best is the best we've seen in decades. Phil's best is among the best ever, but it wasn't better than Tiger's best.

Spieth has the higher upside in the Spieth/Rory debate if you're talking...
