Re: Hoiberg Watch 2015: Saturday, May 30 Thread

I've written in a couple of different threads so far about how I would be just fine and even encourage the local media to ask some very hard questions of Fred once he leaves at the press conference,...
  2. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

I really wonder why some people are listing Marcus Fizer as an apparently serious candidate. He was a stud at ISU, no two ways about it, but what had he done post-ISU to make people think he'd be a...
  3. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

We're starting to go off-topic here, but I don't lose sleep over the lack of manners and civility on a message board, but I do think it's an interesting window into how some people behave anonymously.
  4. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

It's not so much about putting on "big boy pants" as it is about not acting like an agro-*********.
  5. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

    Fair enough.

And I do admit to perhaps being a bit sensitive and attuned to the culture of this message board and how people respond to and treat one another. There are some people on here,...
  6. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

I've written before today that Pollard took a huge risk in hiring Hoiberg five years ago. To his credit, and to Fred's credit, it worked spectacularly.

However, just because a risky hire worked...
  7. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

Come on. Don't be silly here. I don't think anybody "hates" Otz just because some of us (including myself) are leery about handing the keys off to a guy who has never coached a Division I basketball...

Re: Friday 5: Favorite Hoiberg-era wins

You don't deserve a handle on this site.
  9. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

I don't think I've ever written that you're wrong. Honestly, it feels like you're picking fights on here for the sole purpose of picking fights.

I get the impression that you're totally on board...
  10. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

Well then, he wouldn't say anything, because it would have been proven to be a good hire, right?

    C'mon man...

If we do a national search, don't get our guy and end up with TJ I'd be okay with...

Re: Hoiberg Watch 2015: Friday, May 29 Thread

I've written it before...I wouldn't be upset with Fred if (and most likely when) he leaves for the Bulls, but I would also be perfectly okay with the local/state media asking him some very tough...

Re: Hoiberg Watch 2015: Friday, May 29 Thread

At this point I've resigned myself to the belief that he's leaving and have more or less made peace with it, but it still sucks serious *****.

In the past I've used the phrase "God hate Iowa...
  13. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

Funny you mention him. I remember really wanting him to be under consideration during the sh!tstorm after LE resigned. Great coach.
  14. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

IIRC, the only reason Jankovich left his head coaching gig at Illinois State to be as assistant under Larry Brown at SMU is because he was promised to be LB's successor once he finally retires...
  15. Re: List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

I'll throw a new name out here...Greg Gard, Associate Head Coach from Wisconsin.

Obviously, a very similar resume and profile to Dwayne Stephens from Michigan State. He's had a chance to work...

Re: Game of Thrones Season 5

Yeah, I think I'm coming around on the Sand Snakes, at least Tyene. I wonder if the show runners decided to combine Arianna's character with her.

Re: Pre-Memorial Day Hoiberg NBA Update

If Fred leaves, whether this year or next, I won't begrudge him for following him for following his professional dreams.

However, as others have written, this whole process is not good for Iowa...

Re: Game of Thrones Season 5

I can see this happening in both the books and the TV series, and both will be very satisfying moments.
