Well he did try to finish in front of some girls dad. So I guess his perspective might be skewed.

    Re: Are you surprised that....

We've had enough options on the teams the past few years that no one has had to take over the game individually.

  8. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

We weren't talking about scholarships at all though.

The previous argument was that an apartment is ok because it was not a free corvette. I was just saying that a free apartment for a year is...
  9. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

It sucks but the guy has other options to not be homeless. He chose to go to an expensive private school and couldn't get enough scholarship money to pay room and board. He has the option for free...
  10. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

Walk-ons should either pay their own way or get academic scholarships that cover their expenses. They shouldn't get anything outside of that for free or they can't play football.
  11. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

That's why they shouldn't get anything for free.
  12. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

Exactly. He wants to get a degree from a private university first, and play football second.
  13. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

An apartment likely costs more per month than car payments so it's a big deal.

I have a feeling this guy could get a full ride scholarship to a lower level school if he wanted.
    He wants to...

  15. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

WTF? Doug was a walk-on last year? That's BS. Especially because his dad is the coach.
  16. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

I think travesty is a bit much. Did they kick him out of school and send him to the local homeless shelter? No. The kid just doesn't get to play football because he took something for free that he...
  17. Re: Check out this AMAZING Cyclone "tornado" logo concept

I'd like to see the I-State logo on top of this new and improved cyclone. Anyone nice enough to make that happen for me?
  18. Re: Check out this AMAZING Cyclone "tornado" logo concept

I hope we never change the primary mark from I-State. But I hate the foghorn leghorn Cy. I want old school walking Cy and a Tornado logo for secondary marks.
  19. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

Yep. If you allow benefits to walk-ons then someone will try to stretch that to get an advantage.

Some teams could get more than their allotment of scholarship caliber players by having their...
  20. Re: Baylor Walk-On ineligible after receiving impermissable benefits.

I think this is a very RARE situation for the NCAA to have to deal with.

This student is very poor and a very good student. The fact that he can't walk on to the football team is a secondary...
