  1. Re: Would ASU's defensive philosophy work for ISU?

People do understand you can blitz with something other than a LB right? Bring a corner, bring a safety, over load a side and force the QB to adjust, mix it up. Like others have said....iSU is a...

Re: What JP and CPR Said Last Night

The horses up front have to win the battles in short yardage situations and they simply don't. We won those battles with a combo of Woody when we had guys like KO, hicks, Bykowski, Tuftee,...

    Re: Mangino at Valley?

Coaches recruit areas not the positions they coach. Mangino is going to be hitting Iowa, KS JUCOs, OU and TX.....I think

Re: Biggest area of improvement I've seen

I hope they never move Miller back outside. He just isn't good outside.

Keep in mind he has plate MIKE for two weeks. That is it.

    Re: Davario Montgomery

    1. iSU doesn't get calls like most teams
    2. iSU can't afford a wsted play
    3. DB can intercept the ball

More good than bad is a false statement. I am not saying going deep doesn't have benefits...

iowa lost to Western Michigan that year, finished 6-6 and did not go to a bowl. They weren't very good either

    Re: LOL

iSU doesn't win the game and go on to a losing/poor seasons. It has only happened twice in the Ferentz era.
1999- iSU ended 4-8 but iowa ended 4-7
    2007- iSU ended 3-9 and iowa 6-6

    I guess...

    Re: LOL

Exactly. iSU beats iowa when iSU has a good team. iSU loses to iowa when they have a bad team. It is no super human effort. and his argument about iowa making bowl games een when losing to iSU...
  12. Re: BTN does a little recap of your Iowa game ...

Name a conference, other than the SEC, with more than 12 teams that has been stable. Simply too many mouths to feed and too many babies to keep happy.

    Re: NDSU favored by 2

All that matters is they play iSU first game of the season. They don't have to play multiple. Just a 3-9 team

    Re: Iowa State Scrimmage 8/9

The arrogance of some is funny. I even saw a poster on another board saying he hopes a letterwinner doesn't leak any info so the CGC can keep their privileges. Yep, how dare a letterwinner do...
  15. Re: what were some of the worst teams you were affiliated with as a coach or player

Coached a winless little league team once. 9 out of 12 kids were medicated for ADD or ADHD. Long, long season.

On a positive note, we won the league title and championship three years later. ...

    Re: New Bracketology

Exactly. Too many people think iSU resides in a vacuum. We don't and what other teams do affects us just as much as what we do. A loss to KSU isn't necessarily a bad loss. Other teams in our...
  17. Re: Williams Blog: Reacting to Phil Steele's All Big 12 Teams

This is basically why I am in the Barnett camp at this point. It just seems much more likely to me that another year in the weight room to build up some arm strength is a lot easier to do than Jantz...
  18. Re: Williams Blog: Reacting to Phil Steele's All Big 12 Teams

Not saying he should be further along mentally. Never have. He does have one more start under his belt than Barnett.

I really thought the injury would be good for Jantz. It would give him time...

  20. Re: Williams Blog: Reacting to Phil Steele's All Big 12 Teams

I said one of the worst we saw...not the worst. Kansas and TT were worse.
