    Re: Game-winning drives

Well, one, because I added that caveat in the original question.

But two, because when you are tied, you don't HAVE to score that drive to win. You still have an option to win in OT. When you are...

    Re: Game-winning drives

I'm not counting Iowa. Only games where we were losing when we got the ball (like the Packers were today). Jantz vs. UConn doesn't count because we scored that TD with 9 minutes left. Jantz vs. UNI...

    Game-winning drives

I just watched the Packers vs. Dolphins game, and it got me thinking: When is the last time Iowa State went on a game-winning drive late in the 4th quarter?

To add a caveat, I'm talking about a...
  4. Re: I love our team, but I can't watch the crappy officiating anymore.

We put ourselves in position to make a stop at the goal line. And we did.

Re: Nice to be thought of this way

For this kind of thing, you have to be able to separate the team's play from the equation in some ways. We have a good crowd and good gameday atmosphere, despite our lack of traditional success. We...

    Re: targeting penalty

This is a long post, but everyone should read it. Bob Costas spoke in DM this year and made the point that almost every play in the NFL ends in a "big hit," not a tackle. I know it is a "violent"...

    Re: HAWKEYE FAN EXCUSES THREAD

I was there too. I heard excuses in the stands, in the tailgating lots after the game, and listening to the call-in show on the way home (I got a ride with a Haweye fan). Never did I hear "Good game...

Re: Big 12 official comment on Lockett's"catch" ...

For what it's worth on that play, Mike Pereira weighed in on this call, and thought it was a bad call:

    Re: Not the refs fault!

Just what I was going to say. I believe it was a 7-point game then. We could have had the ball on a fast break but instead they shot free throws to go up 9. I wonder if things could have been...

Re: Gold Rules Confirmed for TCU - It's Happening!

This is a job well done. I will wear gold here in Des Moines for support!

    Re: Why do old people

This is so true. It is embarrassing. And this is coming from an "old" person who sits in adult seats.

Re: Gold Rules for TCU Game in Fort Worth

This is awesome and I bet Hoiberg appreciates it. Every little bit helps with recruiting.
  13. Re: ISU #3 in Nation in home winning sreak vs unranked

We have lost a total of 4 home games in 3 seasons... you don't think that matters?

Re: Melvin with a historic day vs. TCU

I think the most impressive thing to me was he did this by shooting 20 for 24. He scored his points in the flow of the offense, didn't force things, didn't try to be the hero. He just played his game...
  15. Re: *** OFFICIAL #16 Iowa State at #19 Oklahoma St. Game(day) Thread ***

Too bad. It would be nice to have a couple more fan bases that cared about basketball in this league.

    Re: Hogue's "Intentional" foul

The refs didn't cost us the game. They did pretty well cost us a chance at winning the game. Not many teams would come back from that call.

    Re: Find Johnny Orr

I saw at least two people at the game wearing hawkeye gear. I just don't get it. Our fans don't do that, right?

    Re: Johnny Orr Passes Away

This is so sad. It is somewhat fitting, though, that there is a game tonight. I have to believe Coach would want the place packed and loud. I had chills at the Michigan game.
