Re: BLOG: 5 thoughts on ISU's return from KC

Good points Chris and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. No doubt we fans and probably the players got ahead of ourselves as we are not a real good team yet, and probably won't be until McKay...

Re: A Football Martyr - Jack Trice

Very emotional read about an outstanding young Cyclone and person. I think we should at least have one game a year, maybe the game closest to Jack's death, when we wear the JT throwbacks. His story...

Re: Players still figuring out roles

Agree, and it wouldn't surprise me if this team has at least half a dozen losses before it really gets going, which might not be until at least mid-late January. Mel was a horse on the boards and...
  4. Re: Game story: Sam Richardson on why he ran (and wishes he hadn't)

I noticed the holder fumbled the snap and got the ball down late twice on field goals, and Cole made one and missed one. I don't remember in what sequence.
  5. Re: Game story: Sam Richardson on why he ran (and wishes he hadn't)

And special teams chipped in too. The holder mishandled some snaps and Netten missed some field goals.

Re: How does Rhoads do it?

That's the frustrating part, yes all 3 of those games were very winnable. If we can make a 4th and 1 against K-State we win, but we have no big back to replace Woody (like David Johnson). Who's...
  7. Re: Game story: Sam Richardson on why he ran (and wishes he hadn't)

Agree. Obviously I wasn't on the field but it looked like Sam had a lot of room and was going to make it when he took off, but TT closed fast. And who knows if we make it if he passes. The pass...

Re: Buyouts: Rhoads due $5.1 mil

Exactly. CPR isn't to blame because JP gave him the farm before he had even proved he could win with his own players, which obviously he hasn't. JP gave big raises and contract extensions to his...

Re: Iowa HS FB -- Finals (Nov. 20-21)

Another impressive blow-out against an eastern Iowa team that totally dominated their area of the state. Gotta think a few of those Dowling kids could help the Clones, Boyle obviously one of them. ...

Re: The Formula to Win at Iowa State

It's always a big money game and I don't think you'll ever see us drop Iowa, they may drop us. They are not a bad non-fcs match up in that they are a barely average bcs team that's usually...

Re: The Formula to Win at Iowa State

True. The show Dowling has put on the last couple of years against the eastern Iowa power has been complete domination, and I have to think a few of those kids could play for us. Still don't...

Re: The Formula to Win at Iowa State

You make good points but it's pretty sad when we have to be afraid to schedule UNI.

Re: The Formula to Win at Iowa State

No doubt even a threat to leave by either OU or Texas would shake up the conference and bring about changes. A one loss Big 12 team getting shut out of the play-offs could do it.

Re: The Formula to Win at Iowa State

I'm sure we'd try anything to be successful, but the only problem with the triple option is that we seem to do better getting good receivers than we do getting good running backs, at least lately. I...

    Re: Coaches Salaries

True about the bowl games but average and even some below average bcs teams go to bowl games, and Iowa has been barely average for awhile now while their coach continues to be paid well above average.

Re: The Formula to Win at Iowa State

Not to mention a one loss Baylor or TCU fanbase, as well as the rest of us Big 12 fans. And if two SEC teams get in, the other conferences will go ballistic. Four teams is better than two, but...

Re: The Formula to Win at Iowa State

The re-alignment thing has me a little worried too. There will be at least one or two of the big 5 conferences left out of the play-offs. There will be a lot of screaming about that, especially if...

    Re: Could this actually happen?

I don't know the stats but seems like Woody's best year was as a sophomore and he was used less and less after that. Kind of reminded me of Ryan Koch's career until we lost a couple of rb's at the...

Re: The Formula to Win at Iowa State

This. And find out what Farley does. He takes players we don't want and either beats us or scares the h out of us on our turf.

    Re: Coaches Salaries

Pretty much shoots a hole in the pay more to get more theory, at least it sure doesn't always work that way. The fact is there are a number of top level FCS coaches out there who's programs are...
