Re: A Match Made In Heaven

Love that guy. We need him on the team whether he ever plays a down or not.

When a child is in trouble it hits all of us extra hard, and will be praying for you and your family as long as you need. Hoping and praying for good news soon and God bless your little girl and...

Good question, and that's another can of worms.

Re: another Appeal in Bub Case

Probably closer to 99% if consent has to be verbal. Usually when it comes to that sort of thing actions do the talking. If verbal consent is required that could open up quite a can of worms,...

Re: Good article on Brett Medders

His high school highlight video was really impressive, and with his size, decent speed and great hands, I'm surprised he didn't get some offers, or maybe he did and just wanted to walk on here.

Re: Players who have surprised so far

I'm going with Medders since he was a player who went from likely not seeing the field to a guy that made some key catches to help beat Iowa. With both Harris and Bundrage out I think Medders...

Re: Leading Rusher Through 3 Games

You're right, he did try a sneak under center against NDSU, but I'm 99% sure Farniok was already out of the game. I'd like to see him try one behind Farniok.

Re: Leading Rusher Through 3 Games

Maybe not as crazy as it sounds. I'm sure we've got lineman and/or linebackers that were good running backs in high school. Ben La Maak was a high school qb.

Re: Leading Rusher Through 3 Games

I know Lanning isn't as big as Bell but I'm pretty sure he wrestled at 225 his senior year in high school, so he's naturally a big kid and could probably bulk up to well above the 233 he's now at if...

Re: I think the offense will continue to evolve

What's stupid about discussing ways we might solve our short yardage problem, something that clearly cost us a win against k-State. And both Sam and Lanning are 6-2, and I think if you saw them...

    Re: Injury Update?

Agree, and this is a great opportunity for Medders and Montgomery. I think Medders could become like a bigger version of Jack Whitver. Heady player that gets open and catches everything.

Re: I think the offense will continue to evolve

I was thinking we might move Lanning to a Woody type role once it was determined he was 3rd string and probably wouldn't see the field at qb for a couple of years or more with Richardson and Rohach...

    Re: Davario Montgomery

I remember seeing his high school highlight tape and thinking this kid should be getting some offers and we are lucky to get him as a walk-on. Obvious athleticism in the family and he may become an...

Re: Line Play and Team Speed

I understand what you're saying, we have had a hard time getting over the hump and winning games no matter who we played the last year plus. Still Iowa has struggled against average FCS teams and is...
  15. Re: A (high school football) player to watch - 2016 QB Harley Kirsch

Thanks for the great info. Trying not to get my hopes up too high like I did with Burrow, but with the Sturdy and Iowa connections and excitement over the stadium addition, maybe we have a real...

    Re: Sammy freaking football

Sam underthrew Bibbs badly but in watching the replay last night he was actually about to get hit low by an Iowa defender, and had to rush the throw. But all in all I thought he had the best...

Re: Line Play and Team Speed

Both the Iowa and KSU games were dogfights, and considering KSU is better than Iowa, its' hard to know if there was really improvement or were we just playing a much worse team. Compare our defense...

    Re: Another uniform thread

Imo the 49ers have the best looking unis' in the NFL. If we're going to stay old school, let's get back to our original gold, which is the 49er gold. But I think next year is the perfect tiime to...

Re: Line Play and Team Speed

I agree and I think it was evident we have more talent and speed than Iowa, and there is no comparison between Sam and Rudock. On a neutral field we're two touchdowns better.

Re: There goes another national championship

I think you're right. Iowa very likely loses to UNI and Ball State on the road, and they are no better than an average MAC team. Unfortunately so is most of the rest of the Big 10.
