There's a bunch of technical stuff in the Rams' lease here, but cutting through it all, if the city doesn't provide the Rams with essentially a new stadium plan by March 2015 to match the likes of palaces in New York and Dallas, the Rams will be free to move. ... As one Rams official put it, "Five years from now we might be back in L.A. Just imagine that."
Rush won't buy them. Jacksonville will be the team in LA if there is one. Even when they had been decent, they don't get anyone there. I don't know what the Rams attendance is like but they have been terrible lately so I don't know how you analyze their fan base. The fact is that Jacksonville is right in the middle of college football heaven and that is what matters down there for the most part. If you look at NFL teams, most prolific ones are not around a college football base. That is why I don't even know if LA is a viable city to have an NFL team. If you look at the Northeast, college football is not dominant, the NFL is. The Cowboys may be a exception, however they live in a very large state so I would say they are more of an outlier. There aren't a lot of consistently good, high revenue football teams in the Southwest for a reason and college football is that reason.
The Florida Gators should just play in Jacksonville....except the Gator players wouldn't like the pay cut.
Has there been a thread on Bo Pelini smacking his cud like a freaking cow on steriods yet? almost more annoying than the Callahan jaw stretch. What is it with the freak Nebraska coaches? Must be embarassing. I hate NU football.
The NFL owners aren't gonna let a new kid on the block get the LA franchise, its just too valuable. They may do something like what MLB did with the Nationals, not letting the new owner move the team and make himself lots of money.
The three current California teams are among the least-valued/lowest-appraised because the stadiums all stink.
