I wanted to compare our 1st depth chart to 247's ISU's 2016 class rankings. Here are the 9 true freshman listed on this weeks depth chart and how they were ranked by 247.
1. Sean Foster
2. Chase Allen
3. Deshaunte Jones
5. Jaquan Bailey
6. Kene Nwangwu
10. David Montgomery

13. Arnold Azunna

23. Jamahl Johnson
27. Steven Wirtel

Performance in off season and at camp determined the names on two deep! Now, obviously more talented players who prepare properly will get the nod over less talented players who prepare properly.

Those top 6-8 were all great recruits. I think many people expected them to play at least by next season.

Man, the future is bright if they can keep up the recruiting. A lot of these players might not be great this year, but getting some playing time for those freshmen and then an offseason in the weight room really sets them up to be good players for ISU as Sophs.

Regarding the star system all you have to do is to remember Blake Larson from Atlantic.........that sez it all about the star system

Its not the stars in my opinion its the development of the players once they are on campus....Think Walk Ons and Nebraska

I think there is a general correlation between the number of stars/recruiting ranking an athlete has and playing time. But if a lower ranked recruit works hard, they can be better than those with a higher ranking than them.

There is a ton of information out there proving stars and rankings matter in college football and basketball but outliers are fun too
