I had an RCA modem from Mediacom. It was very unreliable and I never seemed to get up to my rated speed, upload or download.
Today it quit working and I didn't want to wait until Monday to go to Mediacom and swap it, so I went to Best Buy and bought a Motorola modem. HOLY COW! My speed took right off, I'm getting 12mbps download and over 1mbps upload.
Anyone else had similar experience? Are the RCA modems just junk, or what?
Re: Broadband Modems
I've had nothing but bad luck with modems that I 'rent' from cable companies.
About 3 years ago I gave up and bough a Linksys modem and have never had a problem since.
