After watching that, what was the big deal. I get they were test pilots, but really he had a minimum 1000 feet left. Wasn't even close.
I'm guessing most pilots would disagree with you. 1000 feet goes pretty fast at take off speed. Also keep in mind they had no margin of error and no chance to abort the take off like they would on a normal runway.
