    So I had a dream that we beat Kansas in the national championship game by a buzzer beating banked in three by Ejim. Granted, this probably came about because I fell asleep watching the 30 for 30 about Jimmy V's NC State championship run in '83. But it got me thinking, why not Iowa State? This isn't like football where you can't lose any more than one game the entire regular and post season combined to win it. All you've got to do is get in then win the last 6 games. Is it easy? No. But would anyone have predicted Butler to almost do it two years in a row? No. All we need to do is get hot at the right time and have chips fall the right way and it could happen. Now, can every single team that gets into the tourney say the exact same thing? Sure they can. But why not Iowa State?

    In basketball, this can happen.

    I don't know if Ejim would be the once who would be hitting the buzzer beating 3. Everything else in your scenario is completely and utterly realistic.

    If I remember right, OU beat KU twice in the regular season in '88 and KU beat OU in the national title game.

    If you struggle to beat Texas Tech and to put TCU away ( at home) then get absolutly ***** slaped by WVU you are not going far in the Tourney. This team is not that good right now.

    Hello Debbie downer! I don't know if you checked but we are 19-5 with one of the toughest schedules in the nation. So what that we snuck by tech and TCU...the wins counts the same as blowing them out. And WVU? Every team has good nights and bad nights. We happened to catch WVU on a great night for them and am awful night for us. It happens, it's basketball. We have an excellent staff that will help get this team polished before the tournament. They did so both of the last 2 years anyways. We'll be fine.

    Just to stick with my previous reference to the 1983 NC State national champions:

    N.C. State's 1983 Schedule and Results :: WRALSportsFan.com

    They limped into the ACC tournament with a 4-3 record in their last 7. Once again, as to my point, all you've got to do is get hot at the right time and anything can happen in college basketball.

    Got. To. Play. Defense, and we are just not that great on that side of the ball, we struggled to put Tech away at HOME with an 18 point lead. Anything can happen, but not expecting it.

    Last year's team lost at TT, this year's didn't. The league is also much tougher this year. Fred's teams have always improved and peaked by the end of the season. Nothing to indicate the same won't happen this year. I think Fred sincerely believes that if we had beaten OSU last year, and I think if Babb hadn't been injured we would have, we would made it to the Final Four. As the league is tougher than last year and we have a similar record (although we played a tougher schedule than last year), it is quite possible we could go far in the tournament, emphasis on "could." However, it is ridiculous to definitively state the we "are not going to go far in the tourney."

    I love the fact that we are 19-5 and people want more. Duke and Syr won nail biters at home yest against unranked teams . It's a grind and you just need to find ways to win and move on to the next challenge

    I'd be thrilled for us to get to the Sweet 16.

    Teams who struggle defensively and don't make free throws don't generally go too far in the tournament.

    Can't fall apart at the first iffy call by the refs.

    That said, just what exactly is *****-slaped?

    Slaping sounds to me like some obscure Olympics sport where a country you never heard of - like Tonga or Nauru - wins the gold.

    This is how the tourney works, any team can get hot and make a deep run. Think VCU a few years ago or let's be real those butler teams probably had less overall talent than this team.
