Seriously, we are the second largest school in the Big 12, yet we have to scrape together money to bowl in an end-zone, which probably will have to be done on the cheap. But OU can find 300 million? How does this happen?

Well, they have a better program, a bigger fan base, oil money, 15000 on a season ticket waiting list...I'd say that's a start. Feel free to up your donation to ISU instead of ********.

That's a bit much. Unless his donation is astronomical, any increase on his part is pretty irrelevant.

    Really dude?

I'll go ahead and write a 300 million dollar check. Maybe JP can get some plans drawn before it bounces.

This is good for the Big 12. I want opponents having awesome facilities. Makes the conference look even bigger/better/more legit.

Hypothetical, lets say my $300 million dollar check that I write to ISU so that I have rib's approval was legit.

What would ISU (athletics) do with it?

Not to defend OU at all but that pic was taken either before or after the players were on the field so could be a big difference between the # of people who were actually there for the game

A t-shirt fan's money is just as green as an alum's. Success tends to draw those people in.

And the OU "rennovation" about equals the cost for Baylor's new stadium.....holy crap, stadium construction cost increase is getting as bad as coaching salaries.

Yeah, the problem for ISU isnt our 'regular' fans. We have plenty of fan support especially for a team with our level of success (if we could even start cranking out 7 or 8 win seasons regularly, it would get crazy). The problem is that Iowa State isnt generating enough of the big money donors that can throw down for projects like this, and when it does many of them have little connection to athletics (which is due in part to how bad we were in the 80s and 90s... we lost a lot of potential fans that now might be at a point with more available funds)

Doesn't ISU have one of the best Energy programs in the country....granted, I think a lot of that research is focused on renewables / bio based energy.

Hopefully..when Oil drys up, ISU bio-energy research will ensure we have the wealthiest donors in the US!
