Looks like a lot of storm chasers setting up shop in eastern NE and Western IA. What should we be looking for this afternoon? Looks like sun coming out which IIRC is not good (or good, depending on your POV) for severe weather.

In the last 20 or 30 minutes in Ankeny, rain has stopped, temp jumped about 10 degrees, sun came out, and humidity has increased.

Temps aren't high enough in central Iowa to light the fuse

If you are within an hour or so of I-35 you should keep an eye on the weather today. Especially after 3PM or so.

Wait until the clouds break. Forecasted highs around 80 today.

No more rain for a few hours, I need it to dry out so I can get my lawn mowed.

Pretty nasty storms S-SW of the Omaha metro. Looks like it might miss the city to the NW, but too early to tell

Radar is showing what appears to be a strong hook about 15 miles west of Lincoln. Take cover Huskers

I'll be very disappointed if we don't get some good storms in central IA tonight

I've already spent about 45 mins in my basement storage room. Then watched a second storm with nasty hail form just SW of my house. It's now clear and really heating up which does not bode well for later today.

It's not looking pretty for Omaha. Just got to wish my Mom happy Mother's Day and to enjoy her tornadoes. While I miss a good thunderstorm, I do not miss these nasty things.

Maybe another hail damage sale at Woodhouse in Blair, Nebraska. This would be like the 3rd big one in 10 years. 1000s of cars outside in close proximity.

In SE Iowa, don't know if there was any damage from today's storm. Had a tornado just about one mile soyth of us two weeks ago and didn't know it. Only realuzed it when I drove to work Mon morning and our neighbors barn was strewn about their farm field.
