This was brought up in the Oklahoma expansion thread. Someone ask what we would do with it. What would everyone do?

I would seriously upgrade Hilton. Spend about 150 Million to just make that place look awesome. I would keep everything the same in Hilton to keep the atmosphere. However, I think making the outside and inside brand new looking would be something that would be great.

Anyone have any other idea of what they would want done with that much money?

Need a new aquatic center with a decent competition pool, and also an indoor tennis center. That would take care of about $30-40 million...

First things is first: free Clone Cones for 1 entire season!
Next: the grounds around Hilton and the entire Iowa State Center
Last: wifi upgrades to JTS and a new press box

Saw this thread but didn't read the "If" part... almost **** my pants.

I like the idea of a new swimming facility and I know it's darn near trolling but I seriously think that the return of baseball and mens swimming would have be in the conversation. Use part of the gift to create more competitive swim facilities and a new baseball facilities and then spread part of it out to staff the teams and pay for travel/recruiting.

Aside from that I would love to see a facade on the exterior of the east and west sides of JTS to match the endzone and a redo of some the space around it. Pave G6, possibly find a new lot to pave maybe G2, add permanent bathrooms to tailgate areas, upgrade the pressbox, ribbon wrap scoreboard for upperdeck.

    But now I'm just dreaming

    1. Bring baseball back
    2. Build a volleyball-only facility
    3. New press box and a Lil Cyclone amusement park at the Jack

No matter what it went towards, people would be complaining that it isn't going towards academics & tuition keeps going up & blah blah blah. The ignorance of people who don't understand that academics & athletics have different budgets is comical.

But if possible, I'd like a baseball team. I never played baseball & don't watch it on TV, but that might change if my alma mater had a team.

New football stadium, no doubt. The improvements have been nice, but there are just a lot of fundamental issues that can't be fixed.

Hire more security so dirt bag Iowa fans don't get into opponent's locker rooms.

Luxury hotel for the Hoiball players like KU did for their basketball team for $20 million and still have $330 million left.

Crazy that UConn's players starve without food (according to Napier) while KU's stay in a new luxury hotel, you'd think that would hurt their recruiting.

They'd have to go undercover dressed as Iowa fans to truly be effective.

    1) Put $100MM in an endowment for future coaches salaries (pick your investment yield - it would provide a hefty annual sum to attract and retain the top talent for all our programs, especially the revenue sports).

    2) Bring back BB

    3) Volleyball practice facility (keep games in Hilton)

    4) Continued upgrades to JTS and Hilton

    1) Bring back baseball
    2) Press box for JTS
    3) Renovation of Hilton, not remodel. Leave it to look EXACTLY the same, just repair some of the neglect.
    4) Wrestling facility
    5) Volleyball facility

My real question would be what to do with current basketball practice facility. Maybe convert that to wrestling or volleyball and build a new WBB / MBB facility connected to Hilton?

50 foot solid gold statue of Seneca Wallace, preferably built on a platform visible above the SEZ. I think someone had a concept sketch of it.

  18. 1. Suite tower on the west side, probably similar to Arrowhead.
    2. North Endzone (duplicate the South)
    3. Rebuild Hilton out of the floodplain
    4. Alternate gym for lesser sports

I've probably gone over budget. Whoops.

I'm still baffled by the State Gym renovation with the pool they put in. Very short sighted IMO.
