Is there any reason for the constant, timeline-clogging game updates? The game is on TV, for anyone who wants to watch it. And even if someone can't watch it, they can get updates in other ways. I just don't see the need for the constant updates, especially for niche sports.

I'm curious to hear what others think.

Sorry, I love it. I'd rather get the descriptions from twitter instead of the basic live stats from gamecast.

Remember, not everyone is watching the game on TV.

You mean a website that covers ISU sports has a twitter account that is covering ISU sports? Mind. Blown.

I think you can unfollow it if you don't like it.

Ugh, stop using Twitter for it's intended purpose. Need more hashtags.

So now the complaint is that CW does too much for free?

Haha. Not in charge. I actually work my own college basketball games on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so I have twitter up all the time for those. That's why I love all the CF tweets.

I never really paid much attention to it, but now that it is bothering someone, I kinda like it.

I like getting the tweets for columns, recruiting updates, etc. I've just never been a fan of women's basketball, and I'm clearly not alone on that, based on general fan interest. Would anyone be opposed to a separate twitter account for game updates?

I understand that some people like the updates, but couldn't you get them from this or this just as easily? There's really no need for constant updates from the @cyclonefanatic feed.

Can we talk about why you have Twitter open when you are watching the game on TV?

This seems like a valid question. Many people might like the @CF Twitter updates about events, breaking news, links, etc, but not want an update in their thread every 3 minutes of a game.

So good idea: Split into 2 twitter accts, "@cyclonefanatic" and "@cyclonefanatic-gamecast". The latter could be for those who want the updates, and the main @CF acct can reminder-tweet before each game and at half-time: "Follow @CF-gamecast for Live in-game updates!"

    Everybody wins!

I'd say more people have their panties in a bunch over a mildly worded criticism.

here's another, slightly different idea. Works best on smartphones..

    1.) unfollow @cyclonefanatic
2.) create a list with @cyclonefanatic and any other accounts that potentiall annoy from time-to-time.
3.) only look at the list when you want info about subject matter of the list

I do this for baseball - all offseason, (when Buster Olney is tweeting about Vanderbilt football) i ignore the list. come march, i start looking at the list again. After my team loses in Sept or Oct... I ignore the list again.

Bump to note that the CF twitter account posted 60 tweets, in the first half alone, in a blowout, November, non-conference basketball game.

That is, simply, way too many tweets.

I guess I'll unfollow, which sucks, because I like getting all of the the non-play-by-play updates from the twitter feed. If I'm not watching the game, I can get play-by-play elsewhere, if I want it.

Most that responded last time disagreed with my position, which is fine. Curious to see if that has changed, though.
