Much rather us having chapman on our side rather than having to face him in October on the Giants or Nats. If we did give up Gleyber for him it is somewhat upsetting but he was blocked by Russell and Baez.

My guess is there if more involved in the trade if those are the two key pieces.

Sounds like it's close to a deal, Torres plus other pieces for Chapman, that's a lot to give up just for a rental but if they get an extension hammered out that makes it a lot better of a deal.

If this happens, then damn, that's one helluva deal for the Cubs. Giving up Torres sucks, but he's definitely no guarantee and a lot can happen in the 2-3 years he spends in the minors. And giving up him and a second-tier prospect for multiple years of control over Chapman is a good deal, from a baseball perspective. I mean Christ, the Cubs can absolutely go Strop/Edwards-Rondon-Chapman to close out games in October. It's hard to be much better than that at the end of the bullpen. Then have Wood, Grimm, Montgomery and Nathan as well? That's a bullpen that I can feel pretty good about. Sure, it's three lefties, but only Montgomery would be considered a lefty specialist.
