Yeah, this isn't a rebuilding year unless we win about 4 more games, which isn't happening. I think this is a year that either sinks you or not. Can you hang onto recruits? Can you keep the team? Can you make big decisions that will probably hurt friendships or do you just keep believing that a guy who has had no former OC success will somehow improve overnight. If you keep Mess, you damn well better win 8 or 9 games next year and I don't see that happening with him.
That sums it up. Essentially, everything is on the line, and it hangs on what CPR does with his terrible OC hire.
If the recruits stay committed, and turn out to be as talented as we hope, and a good new OC comes aboard, then CPR has a chance to build what we've been hoping for. If Mess stays, this show is going nowhere.
Who cares about the NFL - those players, plus more off that team, would start now. The talent level has decreased since that first year.
Chris Lyle would not start. Jesse Smith would not start. Jake Williams is Justin Coleman and Alburtis wouldn't stand a chance. You've said this before, it's wrong, move on. There wasn't near the offense in the league at the time and when they encountered it, they allowed points.
A team that has been built over the course of five years should not...
1. Lose an FCS game
2. Have the worst loss in school history against Baylor 71-7
Amen. There seems to be no plan. CPR said at his hiring presser that he will hire assistants that fit and want to coach "his" style of football. I assume the hiring of Messingham applies here. What exactly is his style?
Based on everything you've said, you have zero idea what I originally was trying to communicate. Nothing you've countered with has anything to do with my point. No worries. We are so far from where this all began. I have digressed for far too long. As far as insanity goes....me trying to explain over and over what my point was is proof that you're correct...I'm a bit insane. I'll leave it at that. Enjoy the rest of your night NEICyFan...at least what remains of it.
I never told you what your poins were. I got your points just fine. Everyone did. Your points have some shortcomings and it is clear you are too bullheaded to open your eyes to it.
We have no business being in a BCS conference if our program is governed by your attitude. I guarantee you our coaches and AD do not share that thought and thank goodness for that.
I don't think CPR should be fired. What I'm pointing out is that he hasn't shown to be a good enough coach to "just need time." Something has to change and soon. The problems are bigger than just an OC. Much bigger. Those who think it will cure all are missing the mark.
