As much as I love creatine this is a side effect. I took a ton of creatine during my time a swear by it, but there was always the side effect of taking to much playing with your kidneys or liver that you had to watch out for.
I don't see anywhere in that article that it says Brun had Rhabdo?
Either way, nothing would surprise me. Sounded like all off season that Brun was a workout warrior. He might have overdone it?
I actually had kinda started wondering to myself after watching Yancy McKnight talk about the treadmill workouts if there was a possibility of working out too much? Sometimes I think the human body can only take so much.
I got Rhabdo from working out too hard in college and the following is based on my understanding of what the doctor told me about it. The major concern is that the CPK can crystallize in the Kidney and cause renal failure. Once those levels are down and his electrolytes are back to normal, he should be able to safely return to practice/playing quicker than you'd think. It took me I think 4 days in the hospital before my levels got back down to normal, but after that I was okay and I could pretty much do what I wanted. I definitely was careful about it, though. It was probably the most sick I have ever felt and I am glad Brun is okay. Wouldn't wish Rhabdo on anyone.
