Austin Narber Cyclone Fanatic Contributor

This is Austin’s first year with Cyclone Fanatic as a college basketball contributor. As a lifelong hoops enthusiast, stat geek and casual writer, he started a blog in January 2013 called Permanent Redshirt that has been a big success in its early stages. It covers mostly college basketball and some Cyclone-specific material.

Austin graduated from Iowa State University in the Fall of 2011, majoring in Sociology, after spending a brief time in the Greenlee School of Journalism. He proclaims writing as his first and only true love but would like to one day be a sports radio personality.

Austin, who goes by “Narber” to anyone who knows him well, is a native of Altoona and was born and bred a Cyclone. Both of his parents and his stepmother attended Iowa State. He currently works as a supervisor for Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center in Johnston. In his free time, he enjoys running and trying new craft beers.

When Narber isn’t immersed in college hoops, he is hopelessly rooting on the Minnesota Vikings or fending off bandwagon accusations for being a lifelong Boston Red Sox and Miami Heat fan. He and his younger brother, Ethan, were once kicked out of Fenway Park for signing their names on the Green Monster.
