Iowa State offers ’19 Florida offensive tackle

Belleview, Fla. offensive tackle Michael Tarquin has seen his recruitment ramping up since the end of his sophomore season last fall and that escalation continued on Tuesday. The 6-foot-4-inch, 272-pound prospect tweeted out he’d received a scholarship offer from Iowa State during an unofficial visit to Ames.

Tarquin’s only other offer is from South Carolina, but he’s seen interest from Auburn, Clemson, South Florida and Florida Atlantic. He unofficially visited the Gamecocks on March 2 and will attend Clemson’s spring game on April 9. He’s also previously visited Michigan State, Florida, Florida State and Miami.

Belleview went 6-3 last season and saw its year end in the first round of the state playoffs. Tarquin is the sixth 2019 offensive tackle to receive an offer from the Iowa State coaching staff.
