AMES — Iowa State learned of its bowl destination on Sunday night. The Cyclones will take on Tulsa (10-3), a team that Iowa State defeated 38-23 in the opening week of the season, in the 2012 Liberty Bowl (in Memphis, Tenn.) at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 (on ESPN).

Tulsa defeated Central Florida 27-21 (in overtime) on Saturday to win the Conference USA championship.

Iowa State is also scheduled to play at Tulsa on Sept. 21 next season too.

Iowa State has scheduled a press conference for head coach Paul Rhoads and players this evening at 9:15. Cyclone Fanatic will be there for full coverage.

Also, stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic for details on a bus charter trip. We’ll have full details by Monday afternoon at the latest.
